Overview
LOCOOP Y is beautifully designed, reliable 3D printer that is easy to operate. With precision delta robot technology, LOCOOP Y makes 3D printing as easy as a simple touch of a button. Don't waste any more weekends fixing your printer!

The biggest problems with most desktop 3D printers are that after a couple of months, signs of wear and tear start to show. When this happens and the carrier rails and belts start losing tension, you have to manually adjust them in regular basis; or replace large parts of your printer.

LOCOOP Y is the first 3D printer without carrier rails, which makes it extremely durable and reliable. It also means that you don't have to waste time maintaining the printer’s condition. This saves you on filament, spare parts and most importantly, time.

More Time for Making. Less Time Calibrating.

When we started making LOCOOP Y our benchmark was the ink jet printer. Essentially a machine that anyone with some basic computer knowledge could set up and consistently get the results they expect.

  • Auto Calibration
  • Auto Leveling

Beautifully Designed. Easy to Use.

3D printing with LOCOOP Y is easy and intuitive. Also, we've made sure that there's no filament hanging off the side. LOCOOP makes it easy to check the progress of your print with the door closed, and you can easily remove the print bed as necessary.

  • Embedded filament holder (rotating base)
  • Detachable print bed
  • Large, transparent door
  • Touch screen LCD panel & SD card slot

Assembles in a Snap.

Putting LOCOOP Y together couldn’t be easier. The top assembly comes as a single piece, so there are no small parts to fiddle with. The print head snaps into place in seconds thanks to magnetic joints.

  • Fully assembled top assembly
  • Case, door, bottom plate and the legs need assembly

Print Big. Hassle-free.

Size matters when it comes to prototyping and making cool things. LOCOOP Y can print up to 180mm x 200mm with precision, reliability, and no layer shift. Hit print when you leave the office, and it will be done by the morning. It also runs on half the energy consumption of a conventional 3D printer.

With every printer we will include a 1 kg spool of filament and a 4GB SD card.

Help us deliver LOCOOP Y to you!

We've got two working prototypes printing and testing non-stop right now, but we need your help to ramp up production and deliver LOCOOP Y to you. Your support in our Indiegogo campaign will help us commercialize the world's first 'original delta' 3D printer.

We were inspired by the Delta Robot, invented in the 1980s by Swiss Professor Reymond Clavel. Three individually operated arms move with incredible precision controlling the robot's head.

LOCOOP Y is the first 3D printer to bring this technology to mass market.

Cartesian and linear delta 3D printers need to keep constant tension on carrier rails. This causes friction that leads to faster wear and tear on vital components. LOCOOP Y doesn't have carrier rails. Instead, its arms move in precise circular patterns, increasing reliability over the long-term.

The most common error that plagues 3D printers is layer shift. It happens as Cartesian and linear delta printers gradually lose tension on their carrier rails.

Based on our experience, layer shift is most likely to occur three-quarters of the way through a big print, when you're on a tight deadline.

By eliminating carrier rails on the LOCOOP Y, we've also eliminated layer shift.

Industrial machines are used thousands if not millions of times a day and stay reliable. We asked ourselves, "Why can't 3D printers be the same?"

The three-armed Delta Robot that inspired our Original Delta technology is used in industries where precision is mission critical, including packaging, high precision assembly, pharmaceuticals, and even in surgeries.

LOCOOP Y has a 50 micron printing resolution, but more importantly, it maintains that level of precision over time. We've run prints up to 48 hours with no print errors.

  • Large Door: LOCOOP Y’s huge front facing door makes it easy to remove even the largest of prints.
  • Extra-Large Removable Bed: The polycarbonate surface is specially textured to make sure prints adhere well, stay flat, and don't curl up at the edges. The bed also comes out easily so that you can remove objects without damaging them.
  • Memory Card Slot: Transfer your designs easily to LOCOOP Y by using a memory card up to 4GB. That's four times the memory supported by most 3D printers.
  • Less Energy Consumption: At just 60 Watts, LOCOOP Y uses half the energy of a conventional 3D Printer, making it super efficient and environment friendly. Think of what this would mean for a lab or school running multiple printers at the same time.
  • Open Source "CURA" Compatibility: LOCOOP Y is compatible with the CURA interface that you already know and love. (It's the most popular open-source slicer available!) Nothing new to learn. Start exporting G-code immediately.

Need extra filament? You can add extra rolls of the filament we use every day for our prints at LOCOOP. We've secured a very special price of just $25. (Only valid as an add-on when you order LOCOOP Y.)

Comprised of a Ph.D of Science in Astronomy from Seoul National University, and a Ph.D of Science in Physics from KAIST, the founding team is passionate about using technology to realize creative ideas.

We want to make 3D printing easy, to make it available for everyone as a tool to materialize their creations; and ultimately to 3D print homes on Mars.

We have teamed up with one of Asia’s most experienced, precision manufacturing companies, Intops. They help us with the design, development, and the manufacturing process of LOCOOP Y. Their Paper Program, which they fund along with the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), supports technology-competitive hardware startups in bringing their products to the market. Some projects brought to life by the Paper Program on Indiegogo include; MicroBot Push and Embrace. This early recognition of our work by industry experts makes us confident that we can deliver LOCOOP Y to you by the end of 2016.

How far along are you in design and production? Where will LOCOOP Y be assembled?

We’re primed and ready for launch! Right now we’re working with our manufacturing partner, Intops, to finalize production. We’re putting LOCOOP Y together in the same high tech, precision factories that Intops uses to produce smartphones and accessories in Korea. Their Paper Program for hardware startups have a proven track record and we’re excited to see the original LOCOOP Y’s brothers and sisters all over the world.

How can you make these printers so affordable?

Thanks for the compliment! The printer uses fewer components than others because it uses industry-inspired Original Delta Technology. This makes it more affordable and more reliable. Our relationship with our manufacturing partner, Intops, means that we can source and assemble the best components at a competitive cost.

When will my printer arrive?

As soon as possible! We’re targeting a December 2016 ship date. The exact arrival date will depend on country, customs, or delivery status.

Do I need a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering to maintain LOCOOP Y?

Heck no! We’ve got Ph.D.s in physics and we do just fine. All joking aside, LOCOOP Y does not use carrier rails, freeing it from many of the wear and tear and alignment issues of cartesian and linear delta printers. We’ve built LOCOOP Y with industry grade technology will keep printing just like it did on day one, for many years to come.

How easy is LOCOOP Y to assemble?

While we (Induk and Yeo Myung) might be rocket scientists, you do NOT need a degree in astrophysics to assemble LOCOOP Y. It assembles in minutes and comes out of the box in three sections. All complicated electronics and mechanical parts come fully assembled before delivery. That means no wasted weekends trying to put it together.

Where can I find the prints you used on this page?

The printed samples in our Indiegogo page were made by fantastically talented individuals in the maker community that use 3d printers like LOCOOP Y.
