What is LOGOS?

We are a brand whose goal is to lead the fight in ending veteran homeless through long-term employment. A steady job and income helps provide a sense of purpose, self-worth and hope for future independence. The products we make provide these things, a positive work environment to our homeless veteran employees while teaching them skills to support their reintegration into the workforce.

According to the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Affairs: “On any given night, there are over 49,900 United States Veterans sleeping on the streets. Many have found themselves homeless due to the lingering effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse, which are compounded by a lack of family and social support networks. Additionally, military occupations and training are not always transferable to the civilian workforce, placing some veterans at a disadvantage when competing for employment”.

By supporting us, you’ll do more than get a great bag. You’ll be making a personal statement that you also support ending veterans’ homelessness in America.

Veterans carried us. Now it's our turn to carry those veterans who need our support.

How can I join LOGOS to make an impact?

Join us in the fight by pre ordering one of these awesome LOGOS bags made by a newly empowered, gainfully employed, homeless veterans. All of our bags are made from organic cotton and are meant to last with reinforced stitching for extra durability. Each bag is handcrafted in the USA by homeless veterans who take pride in their work and pay the utmost attention to detail.

We are partnering with local service organizations to recruit homeless veterans for employment and setting a new standard for treatment of the homeless by offering consistent wages of $15/hr and benefits like vacation, sick days, insurance and reimbursement for public transportation.

Rewards

Budget

This is the breakdown of costs for our $30,000 goal:

Timeline

This idea was born in 2014 when we decided to fight veteran homelessness through by providing homeless veterans with long-term employment.

Production will begin in late-January of 2016 and we hope to have all perks delivered by the summer of 2016. Everyone who supports our campaign will receive an e-thank you and a certificate to give as a gift for the holidays.

After we raise $30,000, our goal is to reinvest some of these funds into making our business more sustainable and thus hire more homeless veterans. Any extra pair of hands we can employ to produce these bags is one homeless veteran less in the street.

Currently our start-up timeline looks like this:

More about LOGOS

PRODUCTS WITH MEANING

Our name: Logos is Greek for “meaning” which is referenced in Viktor Frankl’s famous book Man’s Search for Meaning. The term lends itself to logotherapy, which is a psychological theory developed by Dr. Frankl. In this book, he writes “logotherapy focuses on the meaning of human existence as well as on man’s search for such a meaning” and that this search for meaning “is the primary motivational force in man.” The ideas of logotherapy inspired not only the name of our company, but the entire premise of our operations. We aim to provide a work environment that allows each employee to find meaning in his or her life.

Our mission (again): To create high-quality products made by homeless veterans in a positive work environment.

Our vision: To lead the fight towards ending veteran homelessness through long-term employment.

Our values: People, our planet, transparency and growth:

  • People: Take care of our employees by creating a positive and supportive workplace.
  • Planet: Maximize sustainability whenever possible.
  • Transparency: so that our supporters know they follow our operations and the impact we’re having on veteran homelessness. We don’t want to be another brand who claims to make a difference. We will make a difference and think it’s everyone's right to see proof.
  • Growth: Use profits to help grow, which will increase the impact we have fighting veteran homelessness.

Our Team:

Justin Groza, Founder. A 10-year U.S. Army veteran, which is where he developed an interest in helping veterans. A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace University ('04) he served two tours in Afghanistan with the Army and one as a DoD civilian employee. While earning his MBA at Corvinus University of Budapest he developed and refined the concept for Logos. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to join the fight against veteran homelessness (in a sustainable way).

Risks and Challenges

Helping people reintegrate into the workforce isn’t easy. It takes time, patience, understanding and compassion. Each employee is a different person with different needs. Thankfully these are skills our team has acquired through their past experiences in the military and fashion industry and we feel fully prepared to take on any challenge that may arise.

You might also, be wondering what we will do if we don’t meet our goal. Well, (obviously) we hope this won’t happen, but if it does, we will move forward with our plan and hire as many homeless veterans as possible to fulfill the demand from our campaign. In this case, production may be slower than anticipated but we will still be employing homeless veterans to make great products for all of our supporters.

Other Ways to Make a Difference
