My Story
Hi, I'm Manuel Guzman, but you may know me as Lolo. Several years ago I held a successful crowdfunding campaign for In Search of Sacha, an illustrated fantasy fairytale storybook, which I wrote and illustrated. Your reviews have been a pleasure to read and I'm so glad that ISOS held your attention and made you smile. To this day I am still so very thankful to all of you who supported the work and hope the book still bring you joy. Today I am presenting you with a new project, Lolo's Art Book!
Lolo's Art Book is a collection of my work from the past two decades. The book will be a large 8.5"x11" perfect bound book with 100 full color pages featuring over 150 of my works. I have selected the paintings from my body of work that would best excite and exhilarate the senses. The portfolio is mostly made up of fantasy and science fiction themed pieces, though there are some images that would be categorized differently for variety.
Along with the art you will find some of my insights on design and storytelling, some of my experiences and anecdotes from working as an artist, my thoughts on modern culture, marriage, faith, and civilization. In all it's about 5,000 words, and it should add some dimension and background to what goes into the art on the pages.
After doing some math, I found that a goal of $4,000 is what makes the most sense for the amount of work the project requires. 50%-60% of which will go to printing, just under 10% goes for IGG, and another 20% for packing & shipping fees. Unless some of the perks are sold, even if I make the goal, there won't be much left in profits, but I will be content to know that this book came to fruition and will be in your hands.

The Price We Pay
If I may, I'd like to speak from the heart. With the advent of A.I. in image creation it pains me to see some of my writer and musicians friends resort to using such tools to develop their cover art. You may cut cost by having a machine spit out some rendition of your prompts, but I believe the cultural cost is greater. These paintings I am putting together are the sweat and tears of a little boy who dreamt that art could bring delight and awe to the world. The machine they use is actually stealing the hard work of real artist and destroying opportunities where life can happen between real people. Hayao Miyazaki, of Studio Ghibli said on the use of AI: “...I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.”
Risks & Challenges
If I am not able to reach the goal, I will have to reassess, and do some more math, to see if it's still feasible to go through with printing of a smaller order.
