Summary
The short film, Loor al Maestro (Praise the Teacher), is the inspired initiative of Ernesto Lasso de la Vega Ed.D.
The short film is about the difficulties that teachers experience in third world countries, when they travel to remote areas to teach children that otherwise will not receive a basic education. The concept of making a short film is not just to entertain an audience, but to raise awareness about this reality, that otherwise could be ignored. By using this short film as a fund raising strategy we will motivate to those who may feel compelled to donate to this altruistic cause.

Introduction
It is not new to many people that education is difficult when scarce resources and other general none favorable conditions are the main obstacles facing educators in third world countries. This project was born from a conversation with teachers who have lived through these difficulties while traveling to distant areas to teach indigenous children in remote areas of Panama. Part of the reason to create a short film is to reach a world-wide audience that may find these stories amusing, stimulating, revealing and motivational.  These stories would be scripted and acted to generate interest in the film. Proceeds of all contributions would be redirected through Mil Amigos Inc. (501c3) to organizations that deal with these issues and who can provide direct assistance to the educators that ultimately need the funds.

Why a short film?
A well done short film can deliver the message briefly using a real-life story that is captivating and entertaining. Add-ons such as interviews with real educators, behind-the-scenes information, other short stories, etc. will be added to the final product. Not to mention that this product can be presented in many international film festivals. There is a better chance for short films to be reviewed by judges than full-length films, due to time limitations. Finally, the internet will be used as a method of promotion with a free viewing of the film with a trailer: “You can help teachers reach children in need by donating at our website www.loor.co

What is the purpose of the initial funds?
The funds raised here are to fund the initial film. A DVD will be yours for a $20 or higher donation to the project. These contributions will add up to the total $20,000 budget needed to pay for production expenses, travels, and operating costs.  Once the campaing is over and the final product is finished, the sales of this product will become the funding for Mil Amigos Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization that will forward the funds to other non-profit organizations.

How transparent is the project?
One of the most fundamental strengths of the project is the premise that everything is transparent to the public. From the beginning of the project to the end of the short film and sending funds to organizations, the funds will be opened to the public for their scrutiny. This will be through our website (www.loor.co) which will show the progress of the project, will promote the short film, will allow the collection of donations, the contributions for the final film, and will update all its donors the destination of their contributions.
