Adventure in an Interplanar Realm
Lost Menagerie is a challenging adventure for characters of 7th to 9th level*, written by Mike Mearls, one of the two Lead Designers of Fifth Edition Dungeons & Dragons.
In the distant past, the great wizard Arfaleo the Seeker claimed favors from four mighty elemental lords to create a self-contained world. The wizard populated his microcosm with strange creatures, to monitor what changes might occur to them over time, even bringing a small settlement of humans into the interplanar cavern. Eventually, though, the wizard’s interest in his experiment waned and he moved on, leaving behind the bizarre anomaly he had created.
Since this time, the microcosm has changed in many ways, for it did not remain isolated from other planes of existence. New creatures have made their way into the wizard’s carefully-maintained experiment, and — there is no other way to say it — things have gone very wrong.
This adventure module is available for 5th edition, Pathfinder first edition, and Swords & Wizardry (OD&D).
*For Swords & Wizardry, the module is for characters level 6-8.

COVID-19 Effect: The printing for this adventure is done by a family-owned shop in Arizona, where a shelter-in-place order is in effect, making us one of their largest customers. Sales like this also allow us to keep a stream of income moving to our freelance artists, authors, layout artists, and editors during the shut-downs. Frog God will come out of this crisis intact, so this isn't a "keep the doors open" plea, but we want to let you know that your purchase is one that you can feel comfortable about. The Project
Necromancer Games projects on Indiegogo are simple, focused, and short.
- Short in duration (2-3 weeks)
- Fast delivery of PDF once funding is completed
- Limited to a single title
- Have options priced between $5-$30
- Stretch goals and project bonuses (if any) affect the principle reward only (usually both the PDF and the softcover).
- Are the only guaranteed method to get the premium* print copy (NOTE: the softcover versions in this printing will not be sold on our website: see FAQ for explanation).
- Have a simple fulfillment process that does not use Backerkit
*Premium means heavyweight glossy interior pages enhancing the art and color elements. The thick, glossy cardstock brings out the vibrant color of the cover illustration. These are the nicest softcover books we have ever sold and we only print a title this way once.
Any reprint would use print on demand service that, although nice, do not approach the quality of our INDIEGOGO funded books.

Why the Tiny Print Run?
Since 2012 our crowdfunding approach has been extravagant in every way. Ambitious with massive page counts, plus numerous add-on options and stretch goals. All supporting a primary title itself as many as 990 pages.
This has resulted in Kickstarter's with memorable pledge rewards that include top-quality hardcover books with sometimes dozens of stretch goal bonuses and add-on extras. These are awesome AND they are expensive to buy for customers like you because they are very expensive to make for publishers like us.
Why not use Kickstarter?
We will still be using Kickstarter, frequently, for our large-scale projects, but we hear the request for less expensive options for our products all the time, especially smaller, faster-paced adventures that can be completed in 2-3 sessions.
Product enhancements tied to project success
During the funding period for Lost Menagerie and after the funding goal is met we will improve the delivered product based on additional sales. There are no special tiered collectors editions or add-on purchase extras. Thus, as total project funding increases, the better the final product will be for everybody.
Examples of improvements made to earlier products:
- Additional commissions for interior color art specific to the adventure.
- The previous Indiegogo project added 2 interior art pieces and 3 extra creature illustrations for its appendix.
- Downloadable Options designed for popular virtual table-top software (The rewards for both How Orcus Stole Christmas! and In Vino Gigantus included the new creature/NPC tokens and player maps).
- High-resolution files of illustrations to share with players at the table.
Project Delivery
PDF Perks
We will email the instructions to all eligible supporters with instructions on accessing PDF items. The PDF files are distributed using Constant Contact service and our web store. You will need to have a customer account on the Necromancer Games website to get your PDF; it's how we keep track of everything and grants unlimited access by you to your reward.
The Indiegogo perk PDF files are 'purchased' at zero cost by supporters (as they are paid for during the Indiegogo promotion) at the Necromancer Games web store using a coupon code. That code we will be sent via Constant Contact to the address provided by Indiegogo. Please contact us with any questions/requests about this.
Softcover Perks
Softcover perks will be mailed to the address provided by us via Indiegogo.
Overseas Shipping
NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL BACKERS: Shipping international has become very expensive. We understand this. Likewise, some countries charge VAT tax or other fees to our customers on receipt. We cannot fraudulently lie about the value of materials we mail out. We are happy to ship you anything regardless of where you live, but we have to stay in business at the same time thus even our lightest books are affected. In the near future we expect to have a print on demand system in place for everyone overseas, It is not ideal, as the final book is not printed at the highest-quality when compared to the ones we fulfill in Indiegogo.
