Inspired by passionate audience demand, we now feel both a responsibility and urgency to finish production on the recording project that was started in celebrated documentary, Lowdown Tracks. And we need your support!

For those of you who haven't seen the film--please do!  Director Shelley Saywell  takes us on a challenging journey to the back streets of Toronto where we are introduced to six unforgettable musicians with lived experience of homelessness. Giving a voice to the otherwise voiceless, Lowdown Tracks has been hailed as a highly effective call to action documentary that explores mental health stigma, Canada's housing crisis and above all hope and the healing powers of music.

The film was created in collaboration with Singer / Activist Lorraine Segato and features music never heard or recorded before, from people who should be listened to.

“The songs they’ve written come directly from their experiences – the hell of their lives,” says Segato, who was first exposed to the caliber of street music at a benefit concert for homeless relief.

From folk, punk hobo, Americana, and blues, their music resonates with hard times, eerily resembles past times, and throws a new perspective on our times.

Introducing: Katt-Budd (above), Bruce BathgateWoody Cormier,

Maryanne Epp and Chris Dempster.

"Heartbreaking... the talent is wondrous." NOW Magazine

When they strap on their guitars -and this is the film's genius- it's possible to envision every one of them on a stage in front of hundreds of people. They're that good." - Hamilton Spectator

Let's make the Music Heals recording project happen together:

Our campaign goal

We need to raise $10,000 to get the job done. This involves a final sound edit and selection of authentic location recordings; as well as heading back to the studio with each musician for a day to get professionally polished tracks of their original songs. Lastly, there are costs associated with packaging and producing CDs and digital files.

The recordings will be made available for download online and CDs will be sold at future screenings and community events. (Read more about our  screening tour at www.lowdowntracks4impact.com)

Proceeds go directly to the featured musicians and help local groups raise awareness and support for their efforts to solve homelessness.

All Indiegogo contributions over $20 automatically receive a complimentary CD/set of recordings when they are complete!

Thank you for believing in the healing power of music!

Sincerely,

Shelley Saywell
