What is LumiWave®?
LumiWave® is a deep-tissue, infrared-light therapy device designed to provide temporary relief from minor muscle and joint pain and discomfort. LumiWave® is FDA-cleared and, unlike common pain medications, has no known side effects. Designed specifically for consumers, LumiWave® is as effective, less costly and potentially safer than treatment you might receive in professional or clinical settings. The optimum power-emission rate, light-source wavelength and dosage duration of LumiWave® make it extremely safe and effective. And its light weight, comfortable fit, durability and portability make it easy and convenient to use.
How do I use the LumiWave®?
Place the LumiWave® over the area of the body that is showing pain or is injured. The LumiWave® delivers a therapeutic dosage of near infrared light in 20 minutes on the High setting or 30 minutes on the Low setting. Once the dosage is delivered, it turns itself off and issue 3 beeps to notify you. You can treat adjacent areas immediately. You can also treat the same area every six hours (three times per day).
What happens if I treat an area for longer than prescribed?
Treating an area for longer than the 20 or 30 minute periods will not hurt you, but it will not provide any additional benefit over the standard treatment. After a normal dosage, all the nitric oxide in the area has been released. It takes six hours for the nitric oxide to re-accumulate.
What is deep-tissue light therapy?
Also referred to as photo-therapy, photon therapy, and low-level light therapy, deep-tissue light therapy is based upon the proven science and therapeutic application of photo-biostimulation, using light to stimulate natural biological processes in the areas where it is applied. Light, at an optimum power level, wavelength and dosage duration, can promote healing by increasing circulation and regeneration of normal tissue.
What conditions does LumiWave® treat?
LumiWave® is FDA-cleared to relieve and reduce minor pain or discomfort associated with muscles (including back pain caused by muscle tension), joints, arthritis, sprains and strains.
Researchers are currently investigating additional light-therapy applications for mild traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, stroke, brain tumors and tissue, muscle and organ regeneration, wound treatment, ophthalmic applications and diabetic neuropathy.
How does LumiWave® work?
The patented technology of LumiWave® uses Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to deliver therapeutic levels of near infrared light energy directly through the skin and into the affected area to temporarily reduce pain and stiffness. Why does LumiWave® use LEDs instead of laser?
1. Clinical studies conducted for NASA and the Russian Academy of Science have shown that the stimulating effect of photon penetration and cell absorption is the critical component to biological results not the source of light (e.g., laser or LEDs).
2. LED light is safer, less expensive and equally as effective as the highly complex laser technology used in clinical settings.
3. Finally, by using LEDs instead of laser, LumiWave® has been developed specifically for the consumer market. In addition to being FDA-cleared for consumer use in the home, LumiWave® does not require the use of protective eyewear, unlike lasers.
