The unprecedented flooding that occurred on September 11th, 2013 in Lyons, CO ravaged the town and severely damaged or destroyed over 100 homes in our community.  The Lyons Elementary School building was fortunately spared; however, students will not be able to return to classes or their homes until all essential utilities are restored to the town.  Most of our Lyons families have been displaced but are still committed to attending school and thriving in their "new normal".  These families are having to rebuild, rent houses or apartments, and travel great distances to be together.  This has caused a tremendous financial strain on all of our community members and in turn on our school's PTO operating funds.  

So how can you help?  Each year we hold our major fundraising event called the Jogathon where students run for pledges.  In the past, it has generated $28k+ of donations that we rely on and that is critical for our annual budget.  We simply cannot at this time ask our students or community for donations, and thus, we are reaching out to you.  

The Jogathon is essential in that it generates the monies needed to pay for fieldtrips, school supplies, enrichment programs and professional development just to name a few.  Without the income from this fundraiser, we will be unable to provide those basic things that every student should experience.  

Our community is resilient.  We will rebuild and Lyons will come back stronger than ever.  In the meantime, we are asking for you to consider donating to help us provide our students with the best "new normal" school year we can....thank you so much and thank you for being a part of our LYONS PRIDE!
