The Project
"Ma Prison" is a short film written by Kitty Harper.
Kitty is an award-winning writer, director, producer and composer from Birmingham, UK. With over 10 years experience in the film industry, her style varies around realism drama, often with a comical or supernatural edge.
This film is the first in selection of works planned by The Movie Cauldron, a collective of film creatives working together to support and produce each other's films. They include shorts, features, fan films and much more
MA Prison is our first project!
So what's it all about?
A failing student struggles to cope with her emotions due to the recent death of her mother, all the while being bullied by her French teacher, who is secretly dealing with struggles of her own.
Trapped after school each day in detention, the pair are in conflict, each unaware of the other's struggles... for now.
As the film unfolds our characters each reach their breaking point and one of them is going to have to make a brave decision if change is to occur.
This powerful and emotional story of two women struggling with grief shines a light on the unspoken inner struggle many people deal with and express in unhealthy was.
Our core team is assembled and we're almost ready to make this film, but want to ensure it shines. We are looking for a small production budget to help elevate the film to the level it deserves to be seen at. That's where a small contribution from you can help.
What We Need & What You Get
- We already have a portion of the budget to cover the production team's work, so we're ok. But what we want to ensure is that the talent and skills we bring in are rewarded for their efforts. All cast and crew will be paid for this production, it's the right thing!
- Locations also cost money especially as we want to film in a school, on a weekend.
- Being a two day shoot means our costs are sky rocketing and it's all very manageable.

- Once complete, we'll be holding a premier screening and you are able to secure your place on the red carpet by supporting us.
- If you want to stay at home and watch it, we will also be able to view it online as we stream the film simultaneously with the premier
- There's also way to get involved with the film as well if that's your thing.
- And of course everyone who supports us will get a public shout out thank you and there's even a way to get your name int he credits.
The Bigger Picture
This film is second in a collaboration group called "The Movie Cauldron." A collective of filmmakers, creatives and industry pros working together to support each other's film ideas and I'm thrilled the team selected my script as our new project.
After completion on "Ma Prison", we'll be moving onto the next film, created by another member of The Movie Cauldron, and i'll be just as involved with that. We're here to support each other's ideas and give 100% on each project. Together we will all succeed.
The Movie Cauldron will grow into a force for good, offering support and funding to it's members' projects as well as being able to work with outside creatives on ideas we really like.
There are other project in the works as well as the groups first short film which has already been released.

Meeting the Challenge
Film making is a hard process and you can't do it without support. We are going to make this film one way or another, but without your help it's going to make it that much tougher a challenge.
Films often get delayed and held up and usually that's down to money, which is why we've reduced our costs and are working as a collective to make sure we have as many resources as we may need.
