WHO WE ARE
For a decade, Mad Anthony has been producing high-energy, emotional rock n' roll. Our mission has always been to be the band that's pushing the envelope and in 2016 we pushed it to the edge. We were tired of the write-record-release-tour-repeat routine and opted for something untraditional. For a year, we released new material every week via the internet, pushing ourselves to work harder, cross genres and collaborate with new artists. The result is Mad Anthology, a 52-song box set featuring contributions from dozens of the friends and colleagues we've met over our tenure.
WHAT NOW
Now, we're ready to bring these songs to life on a physical format. We're not wealthy by any means, so producing a 5-piece vinyl box set is not realistic. Instead, we decided to break the product into volumes.
- Each Volume will be released on vinyl & CD
-
Volume One & Two feature 11 songs, including 10+ collaborators on each volume
- 180 gram, collectors edition vinyl with full color packaging and images
- Deluxe edition packaging available for collectors
- Digital downloads of the complete Anthology
YOUR IMPACT
Obviously, this project is quite labor intensive and expensive, but your contribution means even more than you would think.
- The ability to produce these records in the way we envision: Independent musicians often sacrifice their ideas to stay within budget, your support maintains our integrity.
- With full funding we can afford to continue duplication of future Mad Anthology: Volumes but also continue creating Mad Anthology collaborations.
- More media production: we're not out of ideas, and your contribution will fund future projects, including music videos and other interactive experiences.
- Validation for the work we undertake to bring you new music in a new format
RISKS & CHALLENGES
We're not sharing our production costs with you. We spent over $10K recording these songs and that doesn't include our time, equipment and promotion. The financial burden is only part of the challenge when undertaking a enormous production.
The other big sacrifice, that is often overlooked, is time away. It's not just our time recording the songs, it's time touring to make money to record, time to rehearse, time away from loved, time not relaxing on vacation and used paid time off from work. Don't get me wrong, rock n' roll is fun, but we ended up missing a lot of other things that are also important to us.
Finally, the biggest risk was going alone. It's huge risk to go against the grain of the music industry, there were many people who laughed in our faces when we told them our idea. Others thought (or wished) we would fail. We had multiple publicists and promoters reject us because they were afraid of taking on such a massive project. We didn't have a team of professionals to guide us through the process. We had a team of the willing who were learning the ropes along with us, to whom we are forever grateful.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP
Maybe you can't contribute financially, and we completely understand, but here's some other ways to help out:
-
Share this campaign on your social media.
-
Talk about the project with your friends and family.
-
Attend a show, one of ours would be great, but any local musician would be lucky to have you.
-
Encourage your friends and local artists, even words can make a huge impact.
-
Love your neighbors, community and music scene.
Support your local music scene starts by being part of it. There's a lot you can do without leaving your house. Be part of the movement, reject the commercialization of music and art, invest in your community.
