Overview
Welcome to the campaign for our short film, MAD BOB, set to shoot in September. Thank you for visiting our page, every contribution is hugely appreciated and will propel this project from pre-production all the way through to festival release.

MAD BOB, FROM BELFAST.

Welcome to the MAD BOB funding page! This project has been in development since April, and we're now finally ready to shift through the gears, with shooting locked in for September.

THE STORY.

Based on a true story, our film is set in 1970s London and follows the narrative of a young teacher (Bob) from Belfast who's invited to come and meet a notorious local gangster.

After remaining calm throughout an intensive interrogation, Bob discovers the gangster's true motive... which is to assess him as a potential suitor for his daughter.

Little does he know that Mad Bob is in fact an undercover police officer...

A PERIOD FILM.

As the film is set in the 1970s, we're taking all due care to replicate the spirit and look of this era. Your contributions will go specifically towards-

  • Production Design
  • Costumes
  • Hair & Make-Up
  • Props

ATMOSPHERIC.

The film will have a distinctive noir-ish feel to it, drawing upon decades worth of cinematic material, whilst offering a fresh, modern interpretation.

FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN.

By giving ourselves a generous pre-production period, we have ensured all due care and consideration has been taken at the planning stage. Developing a project from script all the way through to festival release is a long and daunting process, but each of us have worked in the film industry for a number of years and are experienced enough to match the challenge.

THE TEAM.

Michael Wilson - Writer/Director

Michael has worked in the film industry since 2012, starting out as a Production Assistant on various Warner Brothers films - "Jupiter Ascending", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", and "Pan". For the last two and a half years he's worked as the assistant to director Joe Wright, an opportunity which has allowed Michael to be a part of several ground-breaking projects, such as the Black Mirror episode "Nosedive", "Life of Galileo" performed at the Young Vic, and the upcoming Churchillian drama "Darkest Hour".

Archie Pearch - Producer

Archie Pearch is a producer who started his career at UK production powerhouse WORKING TITLE FILMS. In 2015 he set up Clarendon Work Films, producing HEAVY WEIGHT directed by Jonny Ruff which was selected for BFI Flare, London Short Film Festival and won Best Picture at both Canadian Film Festival and New Renaissance Film Festival. He currently has 4 other projects on his slate including a feature which is currently in development. He has spent the last 8 months working in production for DISNEY’s new DUMBO feature film. Archie is currently assisting Chris Clark on the sequel to Johnny English Reborn for Focus Features and ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD for Sony/Imperative that will be directed by Sir Ridley Scott.

Fraser Rigg - Producer

Fraser has worked with and studied under Oscar & BAFTA nominated cinematographers Greig Fraser and Bradford Young on various projects including “Star Wars: Rogue One”. His debut short film ‘Repetition’ received over 22.9K views online and his most recent short film ‘Billy Boys’ was VIMEO staff picked receiving over 70.9K views online. This will be his fifth time collaborating with Michael Wilson.

Peregrine Kitchener-Fellowes - Producer

Peregrine is a 26-year-old London-based Producer. He has spent the last few years working with and for some of the foremost Producers in the film industry, including Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur on films including Disney's "Cinderella", "Rogue One" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". His aim and interest is in making personal films exploring human nature: why we are who we are, and why we do the things we do.

OUR COMMITMENT.

Writer/Director - Michael Wilson:

"Thank you for taking the time to visit our page! This project is particularly resonant for me as it's based on my dad's experience whilst teaching juvenile offenders in the 1970s. Unusual and humourous, the narrative shines a fresh light on a world which has always fascinated me, namely London's criminal underworld."

PRODUCERS - Archie Pearch, Fraser Rigg & Peregrine Kitchener-Fellowes:

"We're excited by Mike's vision for this piece, and we believe the final film will be punchy, captivating and memorable. Many key crew members and locations are already in place, it's clear that this project is going to be exciting to be a part of!"

THE PERKS.

We have some great perks, and we really want to encourage you to get involved, so please feel free to contact us and ask any questions. Some highlights include...
