Overview
The Lydia Tarot major arcana was briefly offered the autumn of 2015 before being retired. Over the summer I was able to work on the minors and have some fun creating the story behind the deck. I especially enjoyed working on the packaging and little extras that could add to the mystique of the deck. Now that I have the fully realized second edition I wanted to give it a proper launch with all the spooky bells and pumpkin whistles.

This campaign has sadly ended, but it ended brilliantly! Thank you to everyone who backed this campaign and helped promote it. For those of you writing me about the deck's fate post campaign, rest assured, it will be available. It won't have some of the special perks the backers are receiving, but it will still be awesome. Also, the limited edition items that didn't sell out here will be available on my website with all the spooky bells and whistles offered here until the edition sells out. You can keep up with this deck and its updates at AutumnTarot.com and you can keep up with my other decks and upcoming projects at AtticCartomancy.com :)  And to the biggest question - yes! You can pick up the grimoire on its own or couple it with the deck.

And now back to the original campaign info....

Hello! My name is Bethalynne. I'm a Michigan native who spent much of my early life chasing the fae around my grandfather's nearly mythical fairy tale garden. Where the fae weren't calling, the strange shadows in the closet were whispering. When it was finally suggested that I kindly bring herself down from the clouds (and out from those dark places) I turned my  imagination towards putting it into my art. For the last many years that art has been dedicated to my tarot decks. This is my latest trek into the tarot waters.

I first created the major arcana for Madam Lydia Wilhelmina’s Tarot of Halloween, the Macabre and Autumn Scenes in the fall of 2015. Briefly I offered the major arcana, but retired it not that long afterwards. There was just too much going on in my personal world at the time to give it the proper attention it deserved. My desire was to invest a little more time in it and revamp the cards a little and add the minors. Later on as I did this, the deck started to take on a life of its own. As the second edition (as I will always consider those first major decks the first edition) it really has turned out well beyond what I imagined the revamping would be.

It features classic artwork reworked by digital collage and airbrushing to make little windows into eerie scenes. There are classic movie monsters, secret masquerades, macabre moments and autumn scenes. It's my celebration of all things that come along with my favorite season: Halloween! The card meanings and the mini tales that go along with each scene are told through the fictional deck maker - the infamous and mysterious cartomancer of the age of spiritualism Madam Lydia.

As for the deck itself, the major arcana is more character driven. Each scene is described and how it pertains to that tarot card.  The minor arcana is a little bit more straight forward. I spent more time modeling it after the traditional Rider Waite Smith tarot. I tried very hard to keep with the main themes and still create a deck I would like to bring out when the air starts to cool, the days tend to dim earlier, and staying out after dark inspires a little warm tea drinking and dark tales.

What I Need & What You Get

The amount I'm asking for is the very basic cost to get the initial printing of the deck and related materials purchased. That is first and foremost. Ideally I would like to earn more, but first things first: Getting started. If I surpass my initial goal I will move onto the stretch goals, which is basically rewarding my backers with more thank perks as the campaign continues to grow.

I'm keeping some of my perks simple so that if you just want to pick up the deck and some thank you goodies you can, which I offer through my shoppe normally. But then I was able to have some fun and add a few treats that are unique to the campaign and give me an excuse to have some fun putting them together. I've already started collecting unusual but wonderfully dark things for my gift boxes! Madam Lydia would be proud.

I've learned enough with pre-orders for my shoppe to know that even if I don't reach my bare minimum amount to consider this campaign a success, I will still have earned enough to cover any of the perks backed. It's taken a lot of trial and error over the years but I've found a good system for my shoppe sales that apply well to this type of campaign.

IndieGoGo always suggest you stress the risks and challenges of the campaign you're running so those who don't know whether to back you or not know what they might be in for.

For me there is always an issue of time management. As a one person studio I do--quite literally--everything by myself. I get help with the inbox now and then, but everything else is me. This is why I've set my date for estimated delivery way out for some perks. As with all my sales, I always strive to get decks to their new homes as fast as possible. I also know that sometimes life gets in the way or packaging goes slower than expected and it might take longer than expected. So I want to give myself that cushion of time and so that you have a window we're working within.

I've also learned that communication and keeping backers updated goes a long way. So when in doubt always feel free to poke me with questions or what not. If I run into any problems or delays I will let my backers know and how I plan to fix it. This comes from my experiences of trial and error. I'm always learning and putting that to what I do now to be better at what I do. And what I do is try and find good homes for my tarot decks. :)

Other Ways You Can Help

Word of mouth is the best way you can help. Share share share. And if you follow me on Instagram I have few extra incentives to help me spread the word. But seriously, please tell a friend, send out some smoke signals, ask your guardian angel to whisper to the other angels, create a catchy tune that becomes a world destroying earworm, use your imagination! (Though seriously, nothing that brings about the end of the world or is annoying.)

EDIT: Holy heck! Already funded! Thank you all so much! I've cleaned this section up a bit, added the full deck for a preview, and removed a few things. I have limited edition prints of the deck art and various other one of a kind deck related items that will be available on the deck's site AutumnTarot.com - and that will go towards helping out Aunt. Thank you all so much once again. And now I've got stretch goals to consider! Also, I can't add photos to the perks that have been taken, so I've added some previews below.

Mini decks are 1.61" x 2.48" in size. Pictured with regular deck card below.

A few cards from the sample deck I just received - Colors all look spot on.
