About the Book:
Little girls can't be what they can't see. I've searched the internet to find a single children's book that depicts a grownup female president of the United States (as well as a first gentleman), and have been extremely hard pressed to find one among the endless pool of princess and fairy tale books.
My goal is to create a children's book titled 'Madam President,' that depicts a day in the life of the President, who is a strong and intelligent woman, and who is also a loving and dedicated mother and wife. I want nothing more than for girls to see what they can become, and I believe this needs to happen at a very young age. Before most girls can even speak, they are often exposed to princess films, and by the time they are two or three years old, they want nothing more than to own crowns and "pretty dresses." But the thing is, there are already countless books and movies about princess and princes, which is why most girls grow up searching for prince charming to complete their own fairy tale, rather than fully pursuing their own passions.
I want young girls to know that they can have it all--they can be smart, funny, hardworking, and have fun all at the same time. My vision is to create a book that will inspire young girls to dream about wanting to be active leaders of our country, and know that there is power in the way they think and how they treat others, rather than the way they look.
I found an incredible Children's book production package through Createspace.com that would help me through the entire process of creating the book. For the exact price I'm aiming to raise for this project, Createspace will provide copy editing, cover design and production, and illustrations--all under my artistic direction. The best part is that they will also grant the book an ISBN number, and place it on the Amazon marketplace for sale around the world!
Once the book is completed, I want to partner with nonprofit organizations to spread the word and sell it to schools and libraries across the country. I fully intend to give every penny of the proceeds to select nonprofit organizations that support and empower young girls, to ensure that together we can build a better future for our country's daughters.
I believe with all of my heart that a book like this can shape our country's future, by inspiring young girls to want to be the next leaders of our towns, cities, states, and our country. I'm asking, wholeheartedly, for you to be a part of molding young minds toward leadership and intellect, and ensuring that each and every girl knows she can one day grow up to become Madam President.
