What
I'm a dedicated artist who finds passion in the work I do. I went into college thinking that I wasn't going to major in studio art and that it was impractical, but I think that majoring in it was the best decision I could have made. I'm a creative soul-- I love making things. I love making conversations, I love making people happy, I love making new ways to talk about things through my art. Reaching this goal would allow me to keep creating outside of college by getting me the resources I need.
Why
My primary mode of art-making is new media, meaning, video and animation. These funds would buy me the programs I need to continue making art. I would buy Adobe's Master Suite, which includes all of its design and editing software. Yay programs!
Exceeding (egads!) my goal would mean that I would be able to show my artwork more easily; new media work is difficult to show because you need a lot of special equipment. Buying my own projector, DVD players, cables, monitors, and other things I need to exhibit work would allow me more flexibility in taking my work to galleries and exhibitions. Exciting! I love exhibitions and having shows, it's probably the most fun I have as a result of my art.
The Impact
I've done a lot of art shows in the past year while in college and it's been SO LOVELY! I like being able to give people something to think and talk about using my work. I also really like making work and new media is a really great medium for me because it allows me to hyperfocus when I need to work on a project, but also gives me many different aspects of a project to help calm down my hectic brain (which is like a squirrel on caffiene, so being able to focus is really saying something).
Other Ways You Can Help
Please feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested! While I did make this as an easy way for my relatives to know what I'm interested in doing after college, I will always appreciate support wherever it comes from. <3
If not this campaign, please share my website! I love when people visit it. (:
