After several successful short segments based on the character, Boris Jackson, Michigan-based production company, The Artistry Firm, is gearing up to produce its first independent short film, Malignant Separation. The film is written and produced by Brandon W. Crockett and Tony Jacobs, who have extensive experience in the film industry in front of and behind the camera; feature film production, commercial work, script options, short films and experimental/non-linear. Malignant Separation, filmed in Detroit, Michigan, is estimated to run 30 minutes. The end objective is to showcase Malignant Separation in major film festivals worldwide, as well as presenting to studios for financial and developmental backing.
Malignant Separation follows flamboyant gangster, Boris Jackson, on an unruly fight of good versus evil; a line that can be easily blurred. When psychopath Charles Lawrence commences a mass-murdering spree of civilian lives, Boris Jackson and his sidekick Lester Franks decide to re-assign the case, taking matters into their own hands from an ill-equipped police force. In this uncanny account, the two vigilantes are catapulted on a mission to restore peace to a deprived and pain-stricken city.
The Artistry Firm is looking to raise $7,500 through investment and sponsorship for the project. The money will be allocated for all production costs including filming with the RED Epic, talent, camera crew, equipment, post-production, travel and submission fees. A detailed budget may be obtained upon request.
For every $1,000 contributed to the production of Malignant Separation the financer will receive a 1% profit of the feature length film and an Executive Producer credit on the short film.
Malignant Separation will further develop and expose Boris Jackson as a more established, iconic figure. The Artistry Firm intends to produce a full-length feature film based on the character, following a film festival circuit run. The objective is to gain studio backing in order to accomplish this. Malignant Separation will premiere in Detroit, Michigan and Los Angeles, California.
