Short Summary
I am a child of the 80’s. I grew up with some amazing TV and film, especially in the sci-fi and action genre. Movies like Total Recall, Blade Runner, Alien, Aliens and Terminator were on the top of my list. On the TV side, we had A-Team, Battlestar Galactica, and of course Miami Vice. Not to mention, some really great cartoons. Mars City Vice is inspired by a lot of great 80’s film and TV! You will receive a digital version when you back a printed copy.![]()
What's the Story of the Comic?
Mars circa 2089, humans live and play alongside various extraterrestrial races. Several planets in our solar system have been colonized for many years. The Moon has sprawling slums, while Mars has become a popular and exclusive theme park based on a super stylized version of 80's Miami - a synthetic world of cloned flamingos, neon and fast cars. Two unlikely police detectives, a human Maxwell 'Moony' Boone and his new alien partner Tykar 'Ty' Baths try and overcome their differences, as they work undercover in this fake 1980's Miami investigating a mysterious kingpin, who is threatening to corrupt the solar system with a new drug made from a rare alien blood

Recap of Issue #1 & #2
Issue #1: 'Wipe off that Grin'
Our story starts in the crime infested slums of Moon York, Moon York. We open on the alien detective Tykar 'Ty' Baths. He is working deep undercover on his own trying to find his missing sister Carena. She is being held against her will by the arch criminal Hadrian, who is making a drug created using the blood of Bath's and Carena's people (Maldakiens). Boone also starts out in Moon York as an undercover detective on the trail of Hadrian, but finds himself the target of his own fellow policeman.
Issue #2: 'I've Seen Your Face Before'
Boone is transferred to Mars City, currently themed like Miami in the 80's. He is prepped about all things 1980's and inserted into the amusement park city to be more actor than cop, which he hates. He soon learns that nothing is as it seems, and there is real crime in the fake city. He is partnered up with the stoic Baths by their hard-boiled Lt Vedanko and the two 80's obsessed alien twins. Baths and Boone butt heads at first, but come to realize they are both after the same arch criminal. Hadrian sends a hit squad led by an unstoppable killer, and there is of course - a big explosion. Does someone die?
We have two covers for issue #2 available. The Original Cover for #2 by IDW GI-Joe Alum Netho Diaz & James G. Brown. It's pretty awesome - isn't it?
