Sex. Superheroes.
Hello, my name is Anna George and I'm a film student at Eastern New Mexico University. I am working on creating a short film called Masks following the bedroom escapades of a young couple as they try out a superhero themed role play. I feel like it is important to emphasize that this is a heart felt film about the awkwardness of being young and in love and navigating each other's emotions, bodies and desires. It is not porn. I promise.
The $1,257 we are requesting is going to be used to create our own superhero costumes, rent a house and completely design it as well as for food for the crew. All of the work and design for this film is being done by our fellow students as well as the acting. It is an incredibly strong opportunity for all the students involved.
While we are beyond excited about the final product we plan on creating, we are also invested in the extra perks we are working on. Since this film is inspired by my deep love of comic books, superheroes and quirky speech bubbles, we are using the storyboards of the film to create an original comic book that will be signed by the cast and crew and awarded to our top bidder. We are also creating a short documentary about the making of the film that will be apart of the digital package each donor receives. Other perks include things like the script and original poster (also designed by students).
I am a senior in college and through my four years here at ENMU, I have really concentrated on finding my voice as an artist and learning to collaborate with other artists. Other than the fact that this film battles the age old question of why superheroes can't wear glasses (should they? shouldn't they?), that is why this film means so much to me. It is my final act of massive collaboration that I believe will result in a beautiful, relatable, fun adventure that we will be able to enter into festivals and remember forever.
Thank you so much for your interest in this project and if you have any questions involving our endeavor, feel free to contact me at Anna.George@enmu.edu .
