We want to bring an alternative to a market that is full of overly feminized apps that try to focus around pregnancy and family planning, without any consideration of people who just want to track their cycles or even use it to avoid getting pregnant.
Our app was created by a small team of developers who collaborate on our sex education website, Sexmind.com.
In sexmind, we believe that diversity is essentially good, and we want to offer products and services that embrace this idea (just like our website!), we are always open to include, adapt and improve our products so that they can be used by the largest amount of people we can, that way we can help people that are usually not considered just because they are not a part the biggest demographic.
We have the skills, and we are more than eager to start this project, but we need your help to make Mcalc for Apple devices a reality.

Here´s how we plan to invest the funds we raise:
- 40% of the funds will pay for the actual development of the app, the collaborators were kind enough to work for a low fee just so that we can make the goals of this app become achievable.
- 10% of the funds will go to advertising the app, even after reaching over 60.000 users with our viral campaign, we know there are other users who don´t know about Mcalc and that could benefit from its services.
- 30% of the funds will be used to pay our medical and social consultants, this way we can make our app more reliable and have more backup from several doctors and psychologists.
- 20% of the remaining funds will be used to pay the assorted fees we may stumble along the way, such as licences for the software and legal consultancy.
What happens if we don´t reach our main goal?
If that happens, we will still use any of the funds we gather to improve our current version of Mcalc for android, we may still try to find other funding sources to develop the IOS version, but it will take several months before we can even start to develop it without the help of the online community.

What features will Mcalc have in the future?
Aside from the current features our beta app already has (which you can read more about them by clicking here ) We will include the following additions:
-
FAM/NFP support: Currently our app uses an extended rhythm method developed by Dr. Juan Aller, a Venezuelan Gynecologist who was kind enough to let us use his approach to this formula to create our app, The Mcalc pro version will be rebuilt from the ground up, and we will add support for the Fertility Awareness method that is more reliable for tracking and predicting since it takes basal mucus and body temperature into consideration.
-
More tracking options: We want to make our calendar support more daily inputs, adding a Mood tracker as well as more specific tracking options for each day.
-
Neutral mode: We are already working on the "Neutral mode" on our android version, and we want to include this as well on the following upgraded versions.
-
More Informational pages: we want to make beautiful infographics for our informational pages, we understand that visual language is easier to understand, and thanks to the current technology, information has never been so colorful. We want to add many infographics on our app regarding menstrual cycles and contraception
Why is this so important?
There is a large amount of people in the world who do not identify with the traditional conception of gender, or who don´t express their gender in the same way as others. A gender neutral app like Mcalc is the perfect alternative for people who menstruate and have a hard time using overly feminized apps, or simply, for people who don´t want their tracking app to assume their gender and their sexual orientation. Aside from that, Mcalc helps to promote the inclusion of the LGBTQA community in the app market , joining plenty of other apps that have been supportive from the start.
We have already worked in collaborative projects in the past, our own website, sexmind.com is an example of that, it started out as a simple sexual enciclopedia and it has grown to be a bigger site that offers more services than just a space to publish sex education articles. We hope we can get Mcalc to grow into a better app with the help of the online community.
We pay very special attention to our users, we don´t have any external investors and we don´t want to. We think you are our main investor, so your feedback is the one that matters most. If you think of any way we can improve our app or if you want to collaborate in any way you can think of, you can contact us at info.sexmind@gmail.com
