A chance meeting between a man and a woman, who both think of the same place to dump the bodies of their newest victims, sparks tension and a bloody love story unlike any other!
"This is horrifying. I love it." - Alan Seawright (Cinema Therapy)
"A KILLER love story."
In the Press: https://www.newsworthy.ai/news/20230913663/meat...
Directed by award winning director, Errol Teichert and produced by award winning producer, Joshua Garretson, this film promises to be something new, wild, bloody and downright hilarious!
It is estimated that the film will require nearly 700 GALLONS of fake blood. Yeah... it's that crazy.
Your contribution to the project will allow us to acquire the props and equipment needed for the film (LOTS of blood, body parts, etc.), as well as allow us to hopefully pay the entire cast and crew fair wages for their work on the film! (We need to hit our goal in order to make this all happen.) A portion of the budget will also go towards film locations and equipment rental.
A Note From The Director:
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a hopeless romantic. An embarrassing amount of my existence has been devoted to finding “the one.” While I am the luckiest man alive because I married my wife, I came to the conclusion a long time ago that there is no “one.” There’s not one person that’s meant to be with another. People have to choose each other, and make the choice to be each other’s “one” every day. That doesn’t mean that life can’t surprise you though. This idea is at the heart of Meat Cute. While on the surface it’s a silly, over-the-top camp-horror romcom, what this film is really about is the common miracle of two people finding and choosing each other. In this case, those people just happen to be psychopaths. Meat Cute is different from my usual work in that I’m usually inclined toward relationship dramas that try to make you think or cry. I’ve never made a horror film, and I haven’t worked much in comedy. But when this idea hit me, I couldn’t not make it. And the script is easily the funniest thing I’ve ever written, with a disproportionate amount of blood to boot. I hope you’ll enjoy this film, because we’re going to enjoy making it.

Payment for Cast and Crew: Our cast and crew is compiled of experienced professionals within the film industry and we would like to pay them the rates they deserve! They are all incredibly hard workers and are dedicating 110% to this project.
Crew Safety Protocols: Our crew's safety is the #1 thing for us. We want to do everything within our power to make sure they are all safe, especially since this film will require a firearm and lots of weapons. This includes insurance for both our cast and crew, as well as our locations.
Equipment: We want this production to be the highest quality possible, which means renting cameras, lenses, dollies, lights, and a whole list of other equipment.
Special Effects: This movie is going to require about 700 gallons of fake blood and dozens upon dozens of fake body parts. So... A pretty large chunk of the budget will be going towards SFX.
Locations: We have a couple locations ready to go, we just need to make sure we pay the owners properly for allowing us to use their space. Because of the nature of this piece, we will also need to factor cleaning into the budget.
Lodging: We will need a place for our cast and crew to stay, since some will be coming from out of state, and to keep the production streamlined, we hope to have a place for everyone to stay near/ on set.
Picture Vehicle(s): Rental of at least one vehicle will be necessary for filming, as it will play an important part in the scene.
Festival Submissions: We want to submit this project to as many festivals as we can and get as many eyes on it as possible! Our goal is to give everyone an opportunity to see it somewhere near their town.
Festival Travel: We would like to be present for as many festivals as possible, having at least one person from our cast/crew there to speak more about the film and provide a more personal experience.
Post-Production: We have a brilliant and established editor on call and we want them to be properly compensated. Also, for any VFX needed, we will need to compensate that artist as well.
Exclusive Screenings: We hope to do some exclusive screenings/ premiers around the US, providing a fun experience unlike any other for everyone who comes!
**IF WE MEET OUR GOAL, STRETCH GOALS WILL BE ADDED! INCLUDING A SPECIAL CAMEO!

The second was Wrong Way Down, a surreal piece focusing on the topic of friendship and suicide which made its premiere at the Kanab Film festival earlier this year. Aaron became infected with the disease of performing as a child after watching too many movies and immediately enlisted in Drama at Shadow Ridge High School where he was made a Thespian of Troup 6626. After graduating he attended the International Academy of Film and Television focusing on Acting for camera where he graduated in 2014. Aaron is a Second City alumni and currently studies at Rosenfeld Studios in LA with Graham Outerbridge, Britt Rentschler, and John Rosenfeld.

Emily Colton has been editing for over 6 years. They primarily have worked on horrors, comedies, and horror comedies. Probably don’t read into that. Recently they have branched into directing, writing, and producing, and they’ll jump at any chance to work on a meaty short film.

Sierra has been on the stage side of things nonstop since 2019. She's been a part of productions ranging from Shakespeare, traditional Greek, to modern theater. Through this she has found a love for costuming and finding just the right piece for a character. Most recently she costumed a production of 'Antony and Cleopatra' based in ancient Rome and Egypt. Aside from that she costumed a 1920s based production of 'The winter's tale', multiple last minute pieces in a variety of 24 hour theater festivals, and characters for seasonal events at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.
