Some REALLY GREAT NEWS!
Folks, your generosity is overwhelming and we are doing amazingly well. Obviously there's lots of time left. I received an e-mail from Ryan's mom and wanted to share some positive news:
The type of cancer that Ryan has comes in two strains, and Ryan has the easier of the two to beat. It responds very well to Radiation and so this trip to Florida will be a crucial part of his plan. He's also going to be utilizing a new chemotherapy drug which they feel has a far superior efficacy against what Ryan is fighting. The underlying point is that his care team are going for gold, and we are relishing in this positive news.
Please continue to share our campaign!
*We met the goal, so more of your money is going directly to RYAN!
That's right. Pass the goal and the IndieGoGo fees drop. We are there. So, how many times can we multiply it? Treatment is on, the chemotherapy port is being re-inserted today in surgery. Ryan is staring at a YEAR LONG treatment plan between chemo, Proton radiation, Surgeory and more chemotherapy. His family is with him right now and THAT is what this fund is all about. So thank you, and PLEASE KEEP IT GOING!!
Yep, your typical 3 (and a half) year old!
Meet Ryan. He likes trains. The one that circles the food court at Sick Kids in Toronto is one of his favourites. McQueen and his friends are a staple, and anything that looks construction related on the Gardiner Expressway between home and the Hospital is a mandatory talking point.
Ryan also doesn't fully understand what is going on, which the adults among us are generally really happy for. Why should he get it? He's a happy little boy and we aim to keep him that way! He has a big fight ahead and we need your help!
What We Need & What You Get
We need to make the long treatment road ahead for Ryan and his family as stress free as possible. Some of his treatment plan includes extended travel to the US for a specific Proton Therapy. Raising money to ensure that Ryan gets the best possible care, and ensure his family is around him is what we need to accomplish.
We've set a reasonable goal in order to keep the fees low. IndieGoGo keeps just 4% (FOUR PERCENT) to power this campaign if we hit our goal. That's unheard of. $5000 is really only a fraction of what we need, but blowing a goal out of the water makes EVERYBODY feel good. So lets decimate that number. Multiply it. You can't lose here. How you ask?
Here's what you get; TWO DONATIONS IN ONE! SERIOUSLY!! Aside from a promise to provide updates as to how the little man is doing to those of you who donate, you also get the satisfaction of knowing that should any of the funds raised not be used specifically during this treatment campaign, Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto will benefit directly from a donation of what is left, the charitable receipt from which will be sent to you for your peace of mind. Two donations in one!
Why donate to this family?
For years now Ryan's mom and dad have been supporting cancer research selflessly, volunteering their time and energy to raise money for the fight against cancer and now it's come much closer to home.
Because knowing how to receive help is just as important as knowing how to give it, which they truly understand.
Most importantly because no three year old should have to know the inside of a hospital as well as Ryan does, because no parent should have to know how to answer the kind of questions that Ryan's parents are having to answer, and because the last thing in the world a family needs to worry about during these stressful times are finances.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can’t contribute, and that's perfectly okay. That doesn’t mean you can’t help. SHARE. Send this to the people you know who can. People, corporations, whatever. Any way you can help us spread the word will be graciously appreciated.
It really does take a village, and many hands make lighter burden.
On behalf of the many people rallying for, and who love this little man, THANK YOU!
