My name is Jerry Avey. I was a professional portrait photographer for over 40 years and an over the road truck driver for 5 years.
I am the past president and life member of the Rocky Mountain Professional Photographers Association. Founder and past president, life member of International Christian Photographers. Former board member of the Kiwanis Club of Boulder CO with the emphases on fund raising. Board Member for Mother House, a home for pregnant women in need, with an emphases on the new home building fund and fund raising.
I have been inventing things for most of my adult life. I would have an idea, go to my workshop and make the item, in some cases I have used that item for nearly 20 years and still use it. The 'MELON PEELER', has been my focus for the last 3 or 4 years and now have used and worked with the prototype for a few years. I have the tooling to make the molds and the manufacturing ready to go.
We are seeking funding to have the injection molds made for the MELON PEELER. (made of High Impact Lustran ABS) This will make the price point more affordable for the kitchen wares market.
We are retired and can't live on Social Security alone and Truck Driving keeps us away from home and family. So being able to sell MELON PEELERS will greatly improve the quality of life in retirement and be able to take care of ourselves and not really on family later in life.

- What the money will be used for:
The MELON PEELER base injection mold will cost $31,770.00. The mold for the blade will cost $7,725.00. Other expenses: Production of the MELON PEELER and blade, suction cups, packaging and shipping.
3 to 4 months after the close of our Indiegogo offering. It takes time to create molds and run the production.
- What will happen after Indiegogo Campaign?
We had the opportunity to demonstrate the MELON PEELER in Chicago at the International House Wares Show. Buyers from all around the world, many companies sell wholesale or retail, but don't manufacture and would have placed orders, had we have had stock.
The risks and challenges in this project are minimal due to working with a well established injection mold company, with a very long and proven track record. The risk and challenges would be in the time table in creating the molds and bringing the product to production. This is a very precise and tedious process. (it just takes time). I am suited to carry this out as, It takes a lot of patience and having worked tirelessly over the past 8 - 10 years, walking this through each step of bringing the MELON PEELER to fruition.
