About one in twelve glaciers that exist in the world today can be found in British Columbia; glaciers are a part of this province’s identity. But by 2100 we are projected to lose up to 80% of our glacial ice. Already, British Columbia’s glaciers permanently lose about 22 billion cubic metres of water per year: the equivalent of filling up BC Place stadium with water 8300 times. This is unsustainable.
MELT is an eye opening feature that gets personal with the story of our glaciers and what their disappearance means for life in BC. It's the journey of 3 friends heading out across the province in search of the truth about whats happening to their home. We want to inspire British Columbians to take action and protect our beautiful province.

Losing our glaciers isn't an isolated issue in our mountains: it will effect all life in British Columbia.

What separates MELT from any other climate documentary, is that it's goal is to get local and personal with the issues facing British Columbia. The facts are important, but by visiting the glaciers first hand, travelling to affected communities, and meeting with experts and ordinary people alike, we will tell the whole story.

Our group is spearheaded by (from left to right) by Kyler Dickey, Pierce Kinch and Ethan Volberg. We were raised in Port Moody, British Columbia and our passion for the outdoors is homegrown. We've explored BC's coastlines, ancient forests and mountain glaciers - always amazed at the beauty of this province. Nature inspires us and drives everything we do, especially in our film making. Our most recent film helped us raise $10,000 for the local salmon hatchery, a project that opened our eyes to the power of our films and some of the problems our province is facing. We've always cared deeply about the effects of climate change but felt it was a distant threat - it's not. When we learned how serious the consequences would be for our home: our interest in this project turned into a passion. The regular routine of high school life wouldn't allow us to give this project the time it deserved, so we left our jobs, worked our asses off to graduate early and bought a Delica (the perfect documentary-mobile) allowing us to fully commit to this project. We ultimately want to inspire everyone in BC to take action against climate change and we believe we can do just that, through our film MELT.

Our team is ready to use your donations in the most efficient and effective way possible. Here is how we broke up our budget:

Production costs include all the equipment such as lighting, microphones, and cameras that we will need to rent while filming the movie.
Post-Production/Animation will allow us to get animations, colour correction and sound mixing done in a professional way. This is key to creating a visual story that will connect with our audience.
Travel Costs include all the expenses of driving across the province, such as gas and food. We plan to meet with glaciologists and communities all over BC and living out of the Delica will keep these costs low.
Distribution is how we get the film to you, everyone in BC and beyond. This is our outreach and impact.
Our funding goal of $22,000 is only the minimum needed to make this film possible. We want to pass this goal! If we beat our goal we are going to be able to spread the message of MELT to viewers around the world and show them the beautiful land and people that make British Columbia proud. It costs a lot of money to make a world-class film and that's what we want MELT to be. The message of MELT is relevant to everyone and we want to be able to share it in a way that a story this important deserves.

MELT is going to change the way British Columbians think about their province. With the global climate changing, MELT aims to bring the issue back home because we believe that's where change begins. We want our film to inspire people to get into their communities and find out how they can help. This is about re-connecting British Columbians with their home through an inspiring story that is relevant to our everyday way of life.
