My Story
Growing up, I was lucky to have a community that supported me. When I started having my periods, I felt prepared and confident.
Unfortunately, many people don't have this experience. Beliefs that menstruation is a punishment, a sign of female inferiority, or a reason to exclude females from society are prevalent and extremely dangerous.
My senior year of high school, I wrote a research paper focusing on menstrual stigma. Now, I'm ready to put that knowledge into action. For three years, I've dreamed of an event designed to educate and empower my community.
This March, it is finally happening: two days of speakers, all with the purpose to educate and engage.
How You Can Help
Donations have two impact areas:
1. Making the event happen - this includes printing out informational flyers, providing light snacks and drinks to guests, and having a raffle prize basket with self-care items
2. Menstrual product donations - all funds raised during the event, and all funds remaining after event-prep will go towards buying safe and eco-friendly menstrual products to donate to local nonprofits
If you can't financially support this project, that's okay. Spreading the word is a huge help.
Thank you!
