Mexican Wolf Conservation at Children's Zoo
Dear family and friends,
My name is Madelyn DeChane and I am ten years old. I love wolves so much that I have spent my whole life studying them. To me, the wolf is a beautiful, powerful and gentle creature created by God. I love the way wolves stick together in a pack, just like families stick together. I love the wolf so much that it has become my spirit animal.
When I saw that there were no wolves at the Saginaw Children’s Zoo I was so sad because they were my favorite part of the whole zoo. The next day I felt so bad that I called the zoo right away and asked why and how I could help bring the wolf back to the zoo. I learned that the wolf that was there died of old age. I also learned that the zoo is trying to get a Mexican wolf because in the 1980s the Mexican wolf became extinct from over hunting. But now the Mexican wolf is being repopulated by other zoos. And that is what the Saginaw Children’s Zoo would like to be a part of – saving the Mexican wolf.
So I came up with the idea to raise money to help bring them back and they said that they are happy to have my help. I created a wolf box right away and got started raising money. Since June, I have raised over $150.00 and am reaching for more. It would mean so much to me if you would help me with this cause. Every little cent counts. Thank You!
