Us & Our Film
We are a group of six University of North Carolina Wilmington Film Studies seniors. We have spent the last four years (some even longer) learning about all of the aspects of film production, equipment, and historical studies. This senior seminar short film is our final compilation of all the knowledge, skills, and experience we have gained.
Midnight Bloom is a romance about a new florist who is having trouble adjusting to her new job, with her narcissistic co-worker, until an unexpected customer walks in and changes her perspective. It is about love, misjudgment, and opportunity. It inspires you to act on your instinct and accept opportunities because you never know where they may take you.
We need your help to make this film possible! Any amount you can contribute will have an impact. We are young filmmakers trying to create a work of art through cinema, and follow our dreams. To make our ambitions a reality, we need the help of generous supporters to provide us access the best equipment, cast, crew, locations, and services possible.
What We Need & How You Help
The one thing filmmakers wish they could make a film without. Money. Financing a film is one of the most important steps in getting a film made, and we are aiming for $1,500 to get our film made. As most of our final project as undergraduate students, we want to make this short film the best possible. In order to do that, we will use funds for:
- Craft Services- to get an amazing cast and crew to work 12 hour days without pay, you have to feed them
- Production Design- what is a movie without props and costumes?
- Equipment- rental fees and insurance for extra equipment for the highest quality images...unless you let us borrow your old VHS recorder
-
Post-production- music, DVD copies, and miscellaneous fees that will turn our footage into a film
- Festival Submissions?- if we raise enough, we will have money to submit to film festivals, so you can go see it on a big screen
If we get above our goal, that means we can enter more festivals, rent better equipment, and compensate the generous business owners who are letting us use their locations. No penny will be wasted! If we don't reach our goal, we can still do this! Every cent is a bonus that we will allocate to where it is needed most. No matter what, we will still make an amazing film!
Your Lasting Impact
This short film is our final mark as undergraduates. We want to be able to leave UNCW with a film that we can proudly show off and learn from. Fundraising allows us to make this film the "right way." It means we do not have to fully rely on the university for equipment, locations, and crew, providing us with more experiences to make us ready to create our own independent films.
Your funding helps us make a higher quality, more widely distributed film. It also aids our futures as the next generation of filmmakers.
Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you cannot make a fiscal donation, you can still help us get this film made! Spread the word, share our page with your friends/family/strangers. The more people who know, the better chance we have of making this film the best it can be!
You can also share and like our Facebook page for fundraising updates, production news, photos, and anything else you want to know about the film.
