Hello, fans and supporters, Dustin Tamplen here! First, a big thank you in advance!
I would like to take the opportunity to share my experience and passion for found footage horror with you. I’m an independent horror filmmaker in the found footage sub-genre. I became a fan of horror movies when I was young, thanks to my uncles introducing me to A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Since then, it’s always been my favorite genre to watch. When I was a teenager in high school, I was introduced to found footage style films and from then on I became obsessed with that style. Last year, I decided to try my hand at filmmaking and I wrote, directed, produced and starred in The Spoken, followed by my second feature film Lights Over Montgomery County.
I believe fans of found footage horror want, have asked for and deserve some new variety in the genre. It’s my goal to produce a series that does just that. This series will be my inaugural effort at creating a series and I’m thrilled to get started right away. I have a five-episode, first season planned, written and ready to get going with filming on-location in multiple states. I have multiple interested parties willing to contribute to the project as either directors, producers and actors.
That being said, with your valuable and very much appreciated contributions, I will have the funds necessary to accommodate the production costs involved, to include but not limited to, makeup and effects, travel, cast and crew compensation, pre/post production and distribution costs.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Please check out the campaign below for Midnight Feature!

Hot Death Horror Productions started as a fun little weekend activity that my kids and I created. We were watching a found footage pseudo-documentary, Tahoe Joe, and I found out that a lot of different filmmakers belonged to the same social media groups that I was in.
One weekend, we wanted to have a little fun and decided to create a horror short. Being an 80s kid myself, I thought it would be fun to use an old camera filter to make it look vintage, so I downloaded an app and we filmed a 5 minute video (available on my YouTube channel). We couldn't decide what to name it so I thought, what is the most 80s sounding kinda ridiculous name we can come up with? And I randomly came up with Hot Death as the title.
I immediately caught the filmmaking bug from then on and started doing a lot of research and asking veteran filmmakers lots of questions.
I wrote a script and thus Hot Death Horror Productions was born. I've completed 2 feature films under this production title and as off the wall and silly as it may sound, I plan to use it for the entirety of my career strictly due to the sentimental attachment I have to it from it starting out as a fun little weekend goof-off session I had with my kids, because it's 50% my passion for horror and 50% my passion to provide a comfortable and fun life for my family, that I continue to pursue making horror films.
