Help Maureen fund her Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training
My name is Maureen Lauer-Gatta. I have been teaching yoga for 10 years. In 2011 I participated in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training that was held at my yoga studio -- The Yoga Room in Warren, Ohio. While there are many outlets to practicing compassion and living a full life, I embraced the MBSR program. It has given me abilities to practice compassion for myself when things feel overwhelming. I struggle with the idea of death and dying on a daily basis. Yoga has become an outlet for me to stay calm during my practice, but the Mindfulness techniques have enabled me to take this off my mat and into my daily life by not dwelling on my personal struggles.
The MBSR program at my studio is based on a sliding pay scale. I would like to continue this and offer others the ability to take part in these life-enriching techniques.
I am seeking your monetary help because I was very fortunate to get into the training program at Mt. Madonna in Watsonville, California to study with Jon Kabat-Zinn (founder and former Executive Director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School) and Saki Santorelli (executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society., and director of the Stress Reduction Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School)
There was a waiting list of over 800 participants just to get into this program and some have been waiting for 4 years!
I am seeking $2,300 which will help cover:
The cost of room and board and meals for the 7 day training, which is $2,162.
Transportation is $192
Flight: $300
Running my studio while I am gone is $120 (substitute teachers)
100% of the funds will go to this training to allow me to share this program with others in Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
Why the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program
For me, this program has helped me find inner peace and happiness.
