$166,371! Yep, that's the final total.  With your amazing help, that's how much we raised in our mindfulTV campaign. In addition to the $50,671 you see on this page, we received direct donations during the last week of our campaign totaling nearly $75,000! Indiegogo is not set up to process the checks we received but it was still the wonderful Indiegogo platform that made all this possible.

Thanks to all of you who visited this site, and then donated, tweeted, fb'ed, and called your friends to tell them about mindfulTV. Something magical happens when people rally behind an idea, like all of you have done with this campaign. It inspires others. Now we're inspired to move forward with the creation of a video channel for reporting on the mindfulness movement.

Our campaign is now officially closed. However, we continue to hear from people who'd like to contribute to the creation of mindfulTV. If you'd like to do so, please write us at mindfulTV@mindful.org.

Thanks for your support!

Perks Update: Jon Kabat-Zinn, our friend, advisor, and mindfulness pioneer, will be our special guest for the Exclusive MindfulTV Broadcast, our $100 donation perk!

Everyone who donates $100 or more to our Indiegogo campaign is invited to participate in the broadcast and ask Jon questions about the state of the mindfulness movement around the world, gleaned from his work in the UK, Europe, and Asia, as well as North America. And anyone who has given at a lower level can top up their donation to $100 to participate in this exclusive broadcast.

First we brought you Mindful.org and then the new Mindful magazine. Now Mindful needs your help to complete our launch and extend our ability to leverage the transformative power of mindfulness with.... mindfulTV

Mindful needs your support.

If you think the world would be a better place with more mindfulness, awareness, kindness, and compassion, then, like us, you want to get that message out far and wide.

The Mindful initiative is working hard to do just that. With Mindful magazine, Mindful.org, conferences, meetings, advocacy, and more, we're presenting mindfulness to a mainstream audience.

MindfulTV will add picture and sound, and allow this message to reach an even broader audience. Media initiatives today need a strong video component to flourish, so this is a key part of our digital and muiltimedia development, and an integral part of our business plan.

Donate today, support mindfulTV, and help sustain the Mindful Initiative.

MindfulTV will expand the impact of our community building, our digital activity, and our print work. And it attracts advertising support too. Not only will adding sound and video enrich our currrent storytelling and reporting capacity, it will also strengthen Mindful's ability to be a sustainable initiative.

Double the Impact of your Donation with the 1440 Foundation Matching Grant

The visionary 1440 Foundation has chosen this time to issue Mindful a generous $40,000 Matching Grant to help advance their mission to create authentic relationships. This grant will double your donation up to the first $40,000 we receive, all to help fund mindfulTV and our overall Mindful initiative.

Learn More About mindfulTV—Watch, Reflect, Learn, Share.

Mindful magazine and mindful.org have already given the mindfulness movement a media home with their in-depth reporting and diverse coverage. Leveraging our editorial expertise and integrating print and web content, mindfulTV will bring the conversation to life with sound and picture.

In partnership with the key organizations in the mindfulness field, mindfulTV will broadcast via livestream the important conferences, events, and programs exploring all the ways mindfulness can benefit our lives, from health and relationships to education, science, and leadership.

A glimpse of what mindfulTV could look like

Up to recently, TV meant a high definition signal, at 30 frames-per-second, in full-screen and with crystal-clear focus. For many years, in a distant second place, the Internet could only deliver low-quality web video for live events. Not anymore. Now that Google has introduced its new live-streaming beta to compete with providers like LiveStream, we can take advantage of these vastly improved tools to promote the power of mindfulness.

Our media team can deliver full, broadcast-quality HD television, live streamed to your computer, tablet, or phone, using professional sound and video equipment. Our broadcast tests already show that the quality is breathtaking, with viewers in Hong Kong, Australia, and Brazil reporting perfect HD streams. Videos on mindfulTV will automatically adapt to the best quality for each viewer worldwide and offer a consistent viewing experience when embedded on websites or Facebook and Twitter pages. Viewers can rewind, hear live announcements, and comment on the mindfulTV blog.

In addition to livestream broadcasts, mindfulTV will take advantage of the latest live-to- digital file technology to produce compelling programming, including in depth explorations, topic-driven series, and on-the-scene reports hosted by our journalists. We'll take you behind the scenes to learn more about the stories covered in Mindful magazine, and bring you informative conversations with the writers, champions, and activists in the mindfulness world.

Mindful online

With mindfulTV, we will reach a school teacher in Australia at the same time we’re reaching a paramedic waiting for his next call in Los Angeles, or a soldier stationed far from home. They can all participate together, in real time, in learning how mindfulness can reduce stress, or in a conference about how meditation can lead to better outcomes in crisis.

Our goal at mindfulTV is to deliver 20 hours of new mindfulness programming to our viewers every month. At the end of our first year of operation our shows and broadcasts will have created an archive of 240 hours of important original programming available on demand and free to share.

The budget for the first year of mindfulTV is $150,000. We are raising $125,000 from this campaign and another $25,000 from program sponsorship. This will help us cover the livestreaming technology, the production equipment, and the pre-and post-production labor to make mindfulTV a reality.

As we said at the beginning, if you think the world would be a better place with more mindfulness, kindness, and compassion, then, like us, you want to get that message out far and wide. MindfulTV is one powerful way to do that.

Learn More About Our Mindful Initiative, Mindful magazine, and Mindful.org.

MindfulTV is just one part of our overall Mindful initiative—which includes Mindful magazine and mindful.org. Our mission is to build community and help the mindfullness movement grow—through media, events, partnerships, advocacy, and building institutions. Learn the whole story by watching Connecting the Dots or visit www.mindful.org.

Interest in mindfulness is rapidly expanding. Now is the time to support it. The great thing about mindfulness is that anyone can do it and everyone can benefit. And people are learning—as science is demonstrating—that living mindfully benefits our health, relationships, work, and society. Given the strength of the scientific evidence and the diversity and influence of the people who are embracing it—from boardrooms to Congress to labs to the US Marines—the interest in mindfulness will continue to grow.

Mindful magazinesThe Mindful initiative amplifies the voice of all who support the work of the mindfulness champions in the field, and who want to help mindfulness enter the mainstream in an authentic and genuinely beneficial way.

Some background on the Mindful initiative:

We’ve launched and it’s going really well. We have established Mindful magazine, mindful.org, and more, and the response from partners, mindfulness champions, and readers has been strong. Early sales figures are exceeding budget projections. Mindful magazine, for example, is enjoying strong sales for both subscriptions and at the newsstands (both Whole Foods and Barnes and Noble have increased their orders).

Mindful is more than a print magazine and a website. We’re more about being a social enterprise than a media company. Our goal is to foster awareness of the emerging interest in, and research about, the benefits of mindfulness, and we use our media expertise to do it. We see how these practices can help develop individual wellness, healthier relationships, and a more caring and compassionate society.

We are a nonprofit with an entrepreneurial approach. The Mindful initiative, including Mindful magazine, mindful.org, and more, is the work of the Foundation for a Mindful Society, a US 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. We are mission-driven but committed to sound business practices. Our business plan calls for a sustainable operation in the third or fourth year, once we’ve raised our start-up investment. We’ve raised $1.2 million and are seeking additional investment in order to achieve sustainability.

The Mindful TeamAbout the team.
