Wait, what??? Sounds awesome!
Right?!? We are so excited to be telling this story. There's toughness and determination behind these pretty faces. In West Texas, they do things a little different.
Director Rachael Waxler is a Texas native who spent her childhood summers out on her dad's ranch dodging rattlesnakes. The UT film grad has fifteen years of filmmaking under her belt cutting with the best directors in Hollywood on commercials, short films and features. She's always loved telling a great story and cannot wait to show you this one.
Co-Director EmzEspecial (aka EmaLee Arroyo-Mahdavi) is an international performance artist that has toured with the acclaimed performance art troupe, La Pocha Nostra. Her passion for film and video art have led her to collaborate with innovative directors, editors and other creatives in fashion, beauty, experimental film and music videos. Emz has directed music videos, performance art and many fashion commercials and videos. She loves to tell stories and bring out the beauty in this world. The motto she tries to live her life by is "Art that does not heal, is not art" - Alejandro Jodorowsky
Director of Photography Brian Leong is preparing for his first trip to Texas the best way he knows how: he’s buying cowboy boots and a Stetson. Whether it's shooting kung fu masters in Beijing or underground industrial concerts in Tokyo, Brian has a passion for stories and the everyday people that do amazing things. He is really looking forward to standing in a pit full of rattlesnakes.
Our core crew has spent a collective thirty-five years working in all aspects of film from producing, directing and editing. This film is a passion project for us all as it is the first feature documentary we will produce all the way from start to finish. And with your help, it's going to freaking rock all of our socks off.
What We Need & What You Get
We need your help to bring this story to a broader audience and make a kickass movie. We are so lucky that we have lots of friends in the business that are willing to help us out and lend a hand. We've got most of our post production covered but what we need are the funds for our actual production. Insurance is expensive, y'all! We've got some great cameras but need to rent some additional equipment. And we don't personally know a sound recordist so we've got to hire one. These costs add up so we're trying to get a few things covered that we aren't able to cover ourselves. Rachael made a pretty chart to break it down.

We've got some fun perks at all different levels. Check them out! And we will be updating on the reg (but not too reg because that gets annoying) so you can follow along on the shoot. All perks (except the finished film) will be sent out in May. We are aiming for a finished film within the year.
Risks & Challenges
Oh this film will get made. If there is a Zombie Apocalypse we will be out shooting zombie rattlesnakes. We've got an amazing team behind us and you supporting us so there will be a film.
Other Ways You Can Help
We know that all projects get stronger through collaboration. There are a number of ways you can help besides contributions. Do you make music? We'd love some for the film! Original art inspired by Miss Snake Charmer? Bring it on! We'll post it on social media and maybe make some swag from it! And please share our Indiegogo link with your network so we can broaden our audience and hit our goal. Thank you for being a part of this film!
Love,
Rachael, EmaLee and Brian
