In November 2014, Shawn & Rochelle Fouts individually received an overwhelming call to leave the comfort of their growing congregation in Texas for the Land of Canaan that is the city of Detroit, MI. So, with the confirmation of God's call and the promise of His provision, they will begin a new ministry in the Greater Detroit Metro Area the summer of 2015. Mission: Go Detroit's vision is: "... to be a prayer centered ministry center that brings about life transformation through Christ according to God's word."
Dr. Shawn Fouts is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. His passion is to lead people to an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, expressed in experiential worship, heart pursuing prayer, and life transformation that is reproduced in daily lives. Holiness then is lived out in our communities, continuing to transform those communities, through the incarnation of Jesus in new believers.
Mission: Go Detroit's major ministry outreach tool involves Shawn and Jackson's love of martial arts. As such, Lion's Roar Extreme Martial Arts will open fall of 2015. Building on Biblical tenets of the Christian faith, Lion's Roar Extreme Martial Arts will incorporate devotional lessons into every martial arts training time for children, youth, and adults. Lessons will revolve around five basic tenets: Truth * Values * Respect * Leadership * Influence.
Much of the funding needs being requested are to purchase the required equipment needed for our students to learn in a safe and conducive learning environment, as well as the rental of a facility that not only will house Lion's Roar but will serve as Mission: Go Detroit's main ministry center. Visit missiongodetroit.org and click on Lion's Roar Extreme Martial Arts for more information. Other needs to be met include a Mission: Go Detroit ministry vehicle; computer equipment and software; printing and copying needs; promotional materials such as t-shirts, hoodies, window decals, posters, etc.; non-profit organization registration and other legal procedures; travel; worship equipment needs, as well as Extreme Encounters materials and start up costs. As with any other ministry plant there are many unforeseen expenses that will undoubtedly arise. To ensure the utmost confidence in Mission: Go Detroit and where your donation will go a Mission: Go Detroit Board of Directors will be established to insure accountability.
While on the Mission: Go Detroit website, take a look at other Extreme Ministries: Extreme Faith and Extreme Encounters. Extreme Faith ministry encourages participants to explore and experience a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior through intimate prayer, worship, and discipleship based on God's inspired Word in the Bible. Extreme Encounters are mission trips designed to give church and youth groups, organizations, and families the opportunity to minister to the wonderful people of the Greater Detroit Metro Area.
Shawn and Rochelle share this passion for ministry and life and are true partners in all they do for the Kingdom. Their young son Jackson, and an older daughter Corinna, share in the ministry of Mission: Go Detroit.
