It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to do mission work in Africa. I believe it is what I am meant to do. Through an organization called Family Legacy, I have the opportunity to live my dream. In July 2014, I will travel to Zambia to attend Camp LIFE. This camp is seven days long and is patterned after a traditional church camp. However, Camp LIFE is created specifically for the orphaned child, a class of more than one million in Zambia. During this week, I will be matched up with a group of ten orphans and two english speaking Zambian ministry partners. Throughout the week, I as well as 1,000 other Zambian orphans will participate in teaching, worship, and song, all together. I will also be blessed to get to enjoy small group time with the ten kids assigned to me as well as having time set aside for one on one time with each child. This is where I will get to learn their own personal stories, their lives, their struggles, their dreams, and their feelings. This is where I will feel what God feels for each of their precious hearts. I will have the opportunity to tell them about God and hear their feelings about a higher power. In the past, this has been the time in which many of the orphans come to Christ, transforming their lives forever. On Thursday of this treasured week, we all journey together, each American with their group, into the compounds that the orphans call home. During this time, the children will share new found relationships with Christ to their surrounding neighbors. Sharing love, care, and the Gospel to the ten orphans I am assigned to will fulfill my heart but, more importantly, I hope it will give these precious souls hope for their future. Camp LIFE not only changes the lives of children who have been completely neglected, but will likely change my life forever. God is calling me to share my testimony to the most precious lives on Earth. I hope and pray that I will not only be changed by this experience, but touch the lives of those who need it most.
