Moon Child follows 16-year-old Iris on a poignant journey of self-discovery, navigating societal expectations and grappling with body image challenges. Along the ocean's shores, Iris encounters the ethereal influence of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. The narrative beautifully weaves divine elements into Iris's earthly quest, offering a profound exploration of adolescence and identity.
Artist Statement from Writer/Director, Britain Botsford:
All I yearned for as a young girl was to feel seen, not observed. I was already spending all my free time glued in front of a mirror, ripping out workout plans from pages of magazines, and always on the hunt for the newest beauty product that promised to stop my young adult self from aging. It didn’t help that every time I turned on the tv no one looked like me and if they did they were there to give comedic relief. I wrote “Moon Child” to heal my younger self as well as heal other women no matter what age. Sadly there isn’t a woman who cannot somewhat relate to my story, and that is what I want the world to hear.
Producer, Belle Moult:
Belle is an award winning producer who recently one her first “Webby” award for her work on ‘An American Sunset’. She as well is incredibly invested in Iris's storyline and is working to the fullest to achieve nothing but success for "Moon Child".
Director of Photography, Aidan King:
Aidan is a fifth-year senior, double-majoring in Film and Dramatic Writing. He’s worked with Britain numerous times on a variety of projects and has fallen in love with her imaginative and creative visual language. He’s super excited to bring her brilliant thesis to life.
