Three Sentences.
Music, musicians and listeners are what we call our community and inspiration. We believe that without any of those three, our art does not exist. We are thankful and excited that through the support of our community and YOU, we will accomplish our dream!
Three Stories.
Garrett Croxon, Seattle native, has been drumming for over 20 years. Showcasing clubs long before he was of age, Garrett often had to wait outside until showtime. Swagger, pinpoint accuracy and intense focus have made him a hot commodity in Seattle. He has played with the likes of Fleet Foxes, C'est la Mort, Erik Blood and The Little Penguins.
On bass we have Jeff Anderson, also from Seattle. Jeff and Garrett held down the rhythm section for the celebrated pop group Tea Cozies. With experience over a wide spectrum of different genres, Jeff employs a real wisdom on the low end. He recently peeled the frets off his Jazz Bass, embracing the direction of the new album.
Jon Atkins grew up in Riverside, California. He is the songwriter, singer and guitarist for Moon Dial. He brings with him to Seattle the stories and songs of a life in debt to his art. Jon has been blessed to write and perform original songs for over 15 years. His gift for crafting music and poetry is unquestionable, and his writing is prolific. His lyrics often carry a message of confronting the past, redemption in love and, of course, feeling like a crazy person. Within a few months of moving to Seattle in 2013, Jon met Jeff and Garrett, who have helped him bring his vision to a new level.
Write. Perform. Record.
"Jon is a brilliant lyricist who, for being such a fantastic songwriter with a commanding voice and special presence, is one of the most humble and self-aware musicians I've ever met." -Ahn Quach, Seattle promoter
We hold each other's stories and talents in high regard. This mutual respect has made the last year and a half of playing together a real joy. The hang is strong and the songs are strong. For us, playing music is a gift. We show our gratitude by pouring every drop of passion into creating the best album we can make.
"Moon Dial represents three facets of Capitol Hill’s music scene at this moment in time: Impassioned art-making, the importance of connections and fresh roots in the city’s changing landscape...[Jon's] receptivity reflects in the songs he pens for Moon Dial through cerebral lyrics and open-faced jazz aches." -AJ Dent, Capitol Hill Times
Here's how we make a great album: Start with great songs (Jon). Embellish them with beautiful arrangements (Jeff, Garrett). Discover a meaningful narrative and express it thoughtfully throughout the album (Jon, Jeff, Garrett). Find a stunning, romantic space to capture the record (The Unknown Studio in Anacortes, WA). Hire a recording genius to produce the album (Nicholas Wilbur). Then we will have a great album: an honest, original, beautiful work of music.
"Moon Dial’s twists and turns inspire the listener to pay attention, feeling the way the road changes while listening intently to every word." -Jessica Price, City Arts Magazine
Now remember: our mission is to write, perform and record great music. We're almost there.
What We Need. What You Get.
Let's look at the costs of making and distributing a record:
- Tracking/Mixing (our producer) $3000

- Merchandise (the perks!!) $1200
- Mastering $1000
- Studio Musicians (playing instruments we can't) $500
- All Together Now!! $10,000
This is a great time for you to take a minute to review the wonderful array of 'perks' we have prepared on the left side of the screen. Also check out the gallery tab at the top of the page for images of the 'perks.' We are not trying to sell you stuff. We want to say thank you with a gift for your support. Every perk has been filled with our love and thankfulness.
We understand that there is a possibility that we may not meet all of our goals. Regardless of how much support we accept, there are three essential steps that we will accomplish:
1. Recording
2. Mixing
3. Mastering
Every other goal is essential to distributing our music to our community, to you.
Thank You.
Don't have the ends to throw down? We're musicians, we get it. However, if you are moved by our efforts there is a cost-free way to help: share our campaign with your family, friends and everybody else you know. Much love and respect,
-Jeff, Jon and Garrett
