Story of Oh Suzannah Studio
- I have taught piano lessons for over 16 years, including piano lab classes at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA.
- Right now I'm booked to capacity with 50 students a week at Oh Suzannah Music Studio.
- I have a waiting list of students that I would love to teach, including kids from my network of foster families and students in the Pinwheel Tutoring program.
- Contributors will make way for at least two sponsored classes a semester.
- Contributors will also make it possible for me to provide instructional videos for anyone wanting to learn (more) piano for personal enjoyment, church worship, or band/orchestra opportunities.
What We Need & What You Get
- We need $6,000 for a basic piano lab of 5 student keyboards with headsets, a teacher keyboard and master sound board. You can view the potential labs here:
- Suzuki lab 1
- Suzuki lab 2
- Donors of $100 receive one month of lessons in person or online. You can also donate this to anyone of your choice.
- Contributors of $1000 + receive a year's worth of lessons! Semesters are posted on ohsuzannah.org.
All funds raised will be put toward this piano lab and necessary curriculum and will benefit eager students waiting to learn. Any extra funds will go toward our Sponsorship Fund to help deserving students.
The Impact
- This is a chance to not only be a patron of the arts, but also to provide a special sort of therapy, discipline, sense of confidence and identity to some of the children who need it most.
- In the past four years, I have successfully secured sponsorship for foster children as well as students I have met through Pinwheel Tutoring. I look forward to exponentially increasing the number of these students through the lab!
You can see pictures of my students and studio here, and view the student sponsorship requirements on my teaching website here.
The Benefits are Huge!
Many people prefer what they know (private lessons) over something new! Here are the pros I will present in favor of a piano lab class:
- The class will be a whole hour, so students will get some of their required practice time in as well as group and personal instruction.
-
Lower lesson cost, making it more affordable for families!
- More potential for duet and ensemble pieces- providing development of group playing skills.
- Increased accountability for practice time each week as class members report weekly.
