The Film
More Than a Feeling is a dark comedy set at a funeral. It is about ego and insecurity and how we often forget that even though we think everyone is judging us all the time, the truth is that everyone is mostly selfish and thinking almost exclusively about themself.
Nowadays, when somebody dies people post to social media with a picture of themself and the deceased person. It isn't enough to honor the dead, but we must honor the dead along with ourselves to make sure that we are effectively broadcasting to the world that we're sad because we were friends with the dead person and we want to remind everyone of that. Our intentions are good, but our subconscious need for constant affirmation can get the best of us.
This short film is a dark, comedic examination of this weakness.

Callum Hanlon (Co-Writer & Director) is a filmmaker who started making skate videos in his parents' driveway in South Jersey and hasn't really stopped since then. While teaching ESL in Spain, Callum started making and selling spec commercials to companies likes Chevy, Pepsi & HTC, through London-based agency Mofilm. Then he came to Los Angeles where he made videos for ATTN, Fullscreen & Super Deluxe, the most notable of which is the Joanne the Scammer series, co-written and directed with Jason Richards. Now he has cut loose and is trying to take the next step in his filmmaking "journey."
Julia Grimm (Producer) is an LA-based Producer and Videographer with Jersey blood and a California vibe (wears crop tops). After receiving a degree in Film and Television from Boston University, she launched her career as a producer at Sundance award-winning Interloper Films. She currently works as a Production Manager at Super Deluxe, and continues to produce side projects big and small because it’s FUN. She also likes to do headstands while her cats watch judgmentally.

Jacob Cox (Editor) is a producer and editor for TV, Web, and Film in Los Angeles, New York City, and New Orleans, with 11 years of experience. Jacob has worked with clients ranging from Disney, Discovery, A&E, Oxygen, Rockstar Games, and more. He's a funny person who doesn't like hugging.
Risks & Challenges
We took a big risk. We could have stopped production when the financing disappeared, but we were already in too deep. The entire crew was on board, locations booked and rehearsals had begun. So Callum put it on his credit card and his lovely girlfriend supported him in his very irresponsible decision.
A lot of the expenses are on a credit card and then the crew is "Net-30" which means that we have 30 days to from the date of the shoot to pay them. This campaign is short so that hopefully we can raise enough money quickly enough to pay everyone on time.
There are other costs that continue to build up as we get through post ($), get the film mixed ($$), colored ($$$) and submitted to festivals ($$$$).
Anything helps. If you're still reading, this is almost over!
Other Ways You Can Help
I know there are much greater causes out there like RAICES and Planed Parenthood that are much more deserving of donations, but if you can spare any money to help out with this project, it is very appreciated. If you can't but you still want to help, please share this on Facebook, Instagram, etc. Or if you just don't fuck with this at all, but then you see the short film eventually and you really like it, or just kinda like it, tell your friends about it. But it won't be available to the public for a little while because we are sending it out to film festivals and a lot of them require that the submissions have not yet been made public.
