Who is this Moros character???
Moros is a vigilante who's real name is Edward Knight. He is a detective in a corrupt city who decides to take the law into his own hands. Moros uses any means necessary to rid his city of evil, even if his methods lack morality.
Who's the team behind Moros??
My name is Joshua Lucas and Moros is a passion project of mine. I wrote this story two years ago, after facing many personal struggles. The story is dark, reflective, and visceral.
I think, in a world where comics have become watered down, Moros will stand out as something full of depth. Every issue is a crazy ride, and the tale of Edward's first year of being Moros (which takes place over 12 issues) is simply EPIC!!
In the course of two years I have been through five different illustrators. I have also attempted to do the art myself. All of these efforts, though at times frustrating, have brought me to work with the brilliant Tamal Saha.
Moros looks great!! Who is the artist??
Tamal Saha, an illustrator and comic lover working out of India, is the amazing talent that brings Moros to life. I met Tamal online and together we worked a half a world apart to complete Moros: A Hard Boiled Hero issue one.
So, who are we really?
Plainly put, we are just two guys who love comics. We haven't worked on anything you would know, though both of us have been working on our craft for years. I feel like we've created something special, something that I am proud of and something that I believe people will truly enjoy. If you like what you see in our video and Facebook, then I urge you to help however you can.
How are you going to use the cash, and what goodies are you offering???
We are trying to raise $1,000 United States Dollars, and here is what it will be used for:
- The illustration of issue two. Issue one is done and payed for, but I need to raise some money in order to pay Tamal for his time and talents. He is absolutely worth every penny!!
- ISBN number for digital and print publishing and distribution. It costs money to get these!!
- A soft printing of the first issue. 200-500 copies, which will cost a couple of hundred, depending on where we print.
We have several goodies that will give a contributor a sense of exclusivity and their name in the Moros archives forever! They are as follows:
- A thank you and the supporter's name printed in the back of Moros: A Hard Boiled Hero issue one!!
-
An exclusive variant cover that will only be available through pledging to this campaign. This cover was done by an American artist, Kirk Feretzanis.
- Special addition versions of the first issue. These issues include a copy of the script and sketches done along the two year journey to the book being finished.
- Signed copies of both the regular and special edition of the comic!!
- Signed original art work paired with a signed bracketed script. A nice combo with original artwork signed by THE Moros illustrator, Tamal Saha, and a script signed by me, Joshua Lucas.
Why Moros?
Helping Moros continue his journey is important. It means supporting indie art, creator owned comics, and small business.
Moros has no agenda and tries to make no over all points (it's just a good story), but there are certain people who may find a special connection to the work. They would be:
- Anyone who has dealt with addiction, either personally or by way of family or close friends. Moros develops chemical dependency issues that are central to his character and his struggles.
- Members of the Military. Our protagonist is ex-military and he suffers from PTSD, and has difficulty adjusting to a civilian world. This is a book that Military people will relate to.
- Bohemian artist/writers. Moros is a VERY risky, mature book. It's extremely dark, with depth. I think anyone who likes bloody, strange, and horrific entertainment will be right at home with this comic!!
A Tree in the Forest..
In truth, we are one of many great indie comic books out there.
Today's world is full of great entertainment in massive quantities. It is easy for good work to go unnoticed and word of mouth is still the best advertising. EVEN IF YOU CAN'T GIVE US A DIME, if you like what you see, share it! Tell others about Moros! Retweet us! Like our Facebook! The readership for any indie book is more of a family than a fan base. We need YOUR help!!
