Getting Moth Over The Finish Line
I'm JW Corey Tamas, the lead singer/guitarist for a band called Red Heaven (that used to be called Dragonfly). Our upcoming album, Moth, will be an hour-long dose of hard rock, jazz, blues, and a lot of "world" music. It's spiritual, it's experimental, and it rocks pretty damn hard. We have the bed tracks recorded, are finishing the overdubs, and should release by the end of November.
Wanna know what we sound like? Take a two minute listening tour.
Wanna see us work? Check out our recent recording session in Toronto.
To get Moth finished, however, we need you.
This ambitious campaign has a goal of $3,400. This will go into paying for mixing, mastering, and expenses pertaining to the overdubs as well as some administrative costs.
If you were awesome enough to contribute to our first campaign, don't worry; you'll still receive those perks. If you contribute again to this one, we'll add all your contributions together when determining which perks you're eligible for.
Speaking of perks, we're offering a lot of awesome stuff for those of you who back this project:
- The entire Moth album (13 songs), and credits
- Four bonus tracks (available only to backers)
- Four Electronic Dance Music remixes (created by DigitalDroo)
- Dragonfly's first album, Amplification, along with bonus songs and remixes and "Push" music video
- A "thank you" card
- A comfy Moth Tshirt that's actually cool so you can wear it around people and not look ridiculous
- A personal "thank you" video
- A personal hour-long live show either over the internet or in person (depending on where you live)
- Album credit as Associate or Executive Producer
- Always thought Dragonfly would sound great doing your favorite song? The band will even record a cover of your choosing... just for you.
- The acoustic guitar used to record Moth songs. Yes, my favorite acoustic guitar that I've had for 23 years. Yours to keep with my grateful compliments (and a signature on the back).
First, everyone you talk to is sick of the "same old, same old." The world is full of people who are fed up with repetitive, formulaic dreck. Rock and roll was built on taking chances and doing something new, even if it's imperfect. Dragonfly is about mixing and combining and trying stuff that might never reach the radio or dance clubs. And we're doing it that way on purpose.
Second, Dragonfly has never sounded better. These are the best songs we've ever done. This is the best we've ever performed. This is the most perfect recording/production setup we've ever employed. If anything we've ever done is worth the support, it's Moth.
Third, this is a way to do something that "stars" can't offer you: You can be part of something creative. You can share in the process. You can enjoy it along with us, watch it evolve, witness as it emerges, share your thoughts, give your input, and connect to us as normal people instead of as "stars." We think it makes so much more sense this way.
Not everyone can contribute cash to a project like this, but if you want to support Moth and help get this album made, you can get the word out and make a lot of noise.
There's a long list of great things you can do to help us out: Post our campaign URL (http://indiegogo.com/moth2) on your Facebook page, Blog, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+ or whatever you happen to be grooving on. Follow us on Twitter (@DragonflyLive) and like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/DragonflyLive).
Best of all, tell a friend "Hey, have you heard of this band?" and let them listen to a bit of the music on the Dragonfly website.
And if you can't manage any of that, just cross your fingers... say your prayer... keep a good thought... and be sure to check back for news on Moth and where you can get it. Whether you support the campaign or not, we want you to love the music.
Thank you.
