This is Moxie. My one year, eight month old Pitbull pup who needs another (yes another) new knee.

This is Moxie, the love of my life. She fell into my lap when she was just 7 weeks old. She was abandoned at the vet clinic I worked for at the time because she was dying of parvovirus and her owners could no longer help. I volunteered to provide the labor for her if they would not put her down. They provided the necessary tools and medicine for her to fight. I would take home the clinics IV machine every night and sleep in the extra room next to her. Then bring her and the machine back the clinic 25 minutes away even if I wasn’t scheduled to work. In the end she survives parvo. She was my angel pup, the first of 3 puppies I helped beat the deadly virus. After she survived I couldn't imagine her going home with anyone else. Fast forward to a year and 4 months later she started to limp a little. She is a very active happy pup so I just thought it was strain from activity. Low and behold she is just a good faker. She showed no signs of pain until I guess she could no longer bare it. I took her to the vet and she had Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture (her tendons and meniscus had been completely torn). I was depressed watching her in so much pain. I was unemployed at the time and struggling just to pay my everyday bills. But I made a promise that I would do anything for her and maxed out my card, and my vet put me on a payment plan for the rest of the balance due and I scheduled her surgery for September 19, 2012. After 4 months of recovery and rehabilitation she was again the happy active dog she has always been. Now her other knee has fallen victim to the same CLR condition, even when I took precautions to keep her activity limited. I took her to her favorite dog park last week and she was playing when all of a sudden she just stopped and lay on the ground. She couldn’t even stand up. Last time it was a slow progression this time it was just all of a sudden. I had to carry her home, rushed her to the vet and now I face the same heart ache I did 5 months ago. I have not stopped crying since I was carrying her home. I cannot afford the surgery. I couldn't the first time and it has only been 5 months since her last surgery. I have contacted UF, doctors and other agencies that I thought could help. I tried to offer volunteered time with my experience in clinics to work if they could help with the surgery but nothing is working. I am desperate. Seeing her having to go through the whole thing all over again so soon is killing me. I have tried my hardest to give this girl the life she deserves and I know we are all struggling these days but I do not know where else to turn. Please help me get my foxy Moxie back to being the active dog she needs to be.

Extracapsular Repair Surgery Needed

Since Moxie is only 40 pounds (mini pit) she will need knee surgery called Extracapsular Repair, thankfully it is the cheaper of the two surgeries used to repair CLR.

I desperately need $1,650. This is how much her previous surgery cost, medications, follow up, and rehabilitation. I take over a lot of the rehabilitation and exercises and my vet offered to cut the costs down to $1650. Usually the surgery runs around $2000-3500.

Every single penny will be going toward her vet bill even if I do not reach the entire goal amount.

Please visit http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?A=1975 to learn more about this horrific injury and why I am so desperate to have her in surgery and back on the road to recovery as soon as possible.

The Impact

This will make all the difference in the world for me and Moxie. I have an overwhelming stress when she is in pain. She is my world, my everything. I thought we would only have to go through this one time and she would be able to enjoy her life. Her other knee is still in the recovery process and not 100% so the sooner she gets in surgery the sooner the weight can be lifted off of her already bad knee. They suspect that the cause for her knees to both be blown out could be from the parvo and malnutrition in her early days or bad genetics; combine this with her being an energetic pup is the receipt for disaster.

I have tried every other route. I am about to start begging on the streets if I knew it would get her better quicker. She can barely stand up, I have to help her outside just to go to the bathroom and I am bringing her food to where she lays. She is having a hard time supporting herself with her already recovering knee.

I promise that every cent is for her surgery and recovery only. I am not asking for a penny more. I don't want the money; I just want better.

Other Ways You Can Help

Please share this with everyone and anyone. If you have any questions about the surgery or the injury please ask! Spread the word. I can't do this again without help. This is all I have left. If you have any advice if you have been in a similar situation please share it with me. Any alternatives to help elevated her pain while waiting for surgery will be gladly accepted. She is now on pain meds around the clock. It kills me to see her drugged up and in pain.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your help, advice and concern.
