Short Summary
Mr. Stowlicker is a unique short film - told through the eyes of a central character who is speechless and obsessive/compulsive. His sense of stability in life depends on orchestrating his environment, avoiding emotional contact and conversation. His goldfish is his only true friend. This mediocre existence comes under threat and begins to crumble as simple plastic balls start to appear in the oddest of places, disrupting his carefully plotted life and forcing him to face the suppressed individual that resides deep inside.
I believe this short will be a well received as festival pleaser with a worthwhile message deeply embedded in a somewhat darkly comical story. The essence of the film is a dialog on how incidents that occur in our childhood can potentially affect us right throughout our lives. Sometimes the most innocent of things can become demons which we struggle to face.
We have interest from a very well-known Australian actor for the lead role, a fantastic DOP and some dedicated crew members already assembled. The plan is to shoot in late August, subject to our funding goals being achieved.
What We Need & What You Get
This film is being partly funded by the Director (me) and the DOP. In all we're contributing $2,000 to make the film reality. To reach the production quality we're aiming for, and ensure the film is a success, we're estimating a total budget of $4,400.
If we don't raise our full objective, we're still going to fund the film but it will push back our shooting dates until we can save up the balance of funds ourselves. So please, help make this film a reality and be part of something special :)
The Impact
I've funded two of my own short films entirely by myself - view them from our Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/IgnitionPictures
Both of these are now doing the festival circuit - Tavern Fever is screening in 5 different countries, and has received the Bronze Palm Award from the Mexico Int'l Film Festival. Hiding Places is just being submitted now, but I expect it to be well received.
My filmmaking passion far outstrips my ability to fund these films entirely by myself. I see crowd funding as a great compliment to help me realize these dreams sooner, and be able to share them with the world - READ: help be part of this magic!
The film is both comical and poignant, with an important undertone that will connect with a wide audience.
Other Ways You Can Help
