MURDER? I Hardly Know Her! Is a zany and wackily twisted adventure filled with murder, college pals, and film bros.
After a student film premiere is mysteriously hijacked with the footage of a brutal murder, a group of quirky college students sprawl across campus to find the killer before curfew.
From the minds of Zane Kalani Kulijan and Joshua Labata, Murder? I Hardly Know Her! Is a quirkily blended mound of chaos that combines the charm of Knives Out with the irreverent humor of Superbad in this twisty sprawling mess of a mystery.
Murder, mystery, ulteriormotives, romance, pretentiousfilmstudents, uselessexposition, stand-upcomedy, maritalcounseling, and a GhostCat, come to a comedic head in Murder? I Hardly Know Her!
This film is so ambitious guys. It's a feature! Undertaking a project like Murder? I Hardly Know Her! comes with many challenges and struggles. We want to tell the best story with the resources we have, but we need your help. We plan to raise $7000 with this campaign. That would cover everything from craft services to costumes to everything else we set our heart to. Why is our production cost so low for a FEATURE-LENGTH FILM? because we're super smart with our money.
Yeah, but no... truthfully we are filming the entirety of the feature film on Biola University's campus which means we don't need to spend any $$$ on locations which means less $ we need to raise overall.
But we still need your help! $7000 is not cheap. This budget will help us secure costumes, some awesomely insane set deck, ghost cats, meals for cast/crew, and so much more. We are expecting (roughly!) ~1.5 hours of runtime, which requires weeks of filming. Feeding a cast and crew is important to keep spirits high and ever-efficient. Your donation could help feed a beloved crew member! So please, consider purchasing one of our incentives. Your money will go towards providing what's necessary each day for our cast and crew to accomplish the creation of this zany story.
Hey everybody! It’s me! Zane! (Writer, Director)
Welcome to my bio! I’m an LA-based writer, director, and editor. I’ve made a bunch of things and have somehow won awards for some of them! I’ve also made a lot of producers cry.
About a year ago, I pitched this project to Joshua as “Knives Out meets Superbad,” on our second time ever hanging out. Then, my afternoon class got canceled, and we decided to start writing right then and there- it was kismet. Pitching a feature after only getting coffee once before is pretty much the equivalent of proposing on the second date. But hey! When you know, you know, ya know?
Since then, a wonderful friendship has blossomed and brought forth many late nights, a goofy mini-series pilot we produced this past fall and a wacky murder mystery script we’re crazy enough to try to produce!
Josh and I have both made some pretty ambitious things and feel we are ready to take on this wild project. I am so incredibly excited to dive into my first feature with the amazing team that we have assembled. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life and I’m so blessed to have the opportunities I have had thus far. We’re making a movie! Woo hoo!
Hey, it's JOSH! (Writer, Producer)
pilots (Mildank Fables, Pseudocide? Satisfied!), two limited series (Downhaven, Book of Patricide), many short films (Postmortem, And He Said a Prayer...), and a random video on birds. He's also worked on two Biola Films (How to Make Friends in a Hospital, Slide-Rock Screecher) Murder? Hardly Know Her! is his first feature, which he stupidly thinks he'll survive.
Writer/producer Joshua Labata hails from the Philippines but will probably die in an American landfill. He’s the co-creator of mystery-anthology series Downhaven, fantasy dark comedy Mildank Fables, and a long list of shorts (which are worth mentioning, but he likes long titles and has a word count).
Yo! Logan here! (Director of Photography)
Hey I’m Logan Mann! I am a cameraman and director of photography and am so excited to be working on this project! When Zane and Josh asked me to be their Director of Photography I said “DIRECT-HER I HARDLY KNOW HER”… I didn’t actually, but now I wish I had.
I am so excited to be working with such and amazing team and to be creating somethings so fun and vibey!
Eliana Henry (Producer)
Hi friends! I’m Eliana Henry, one of the co-producers for “Murder? I Hardly Know Her!” I am so incredibly excited, honored, and oh-so-scared to be able to add a feature-length film to my resume as a sophomore. I’m a SoCal resident, writer, photographer, and producer! As the token woman in the production department, I have the opportunity to bring a unique “je ne sais quoi” to the team, when I’m not too busy crying. (Thanks, Zane.)
Hey! I’m Sean Flanagin (Producer)
I’m a writer producer out of NorCal. Other than making lot of shorts, I love to produce interesting and fun projects. I wake up everyday wonder why I’m on a feature but its all good when I have so much support from out team! Sean has produced two series, Bottleneck and Book of Patricide, as well as several short films, including his award-winning short film Flat Ground Only. Sean will continue his work with "Murder? I Hardly Know Her!", a fresh new take on the mystery genre that is unlike anything seen before.
Henry Timm (Producer)
One of the producers of "Murder? I Hardly Know Her!", Henry Timm is from Minneapolis, Minnesota with a passion for creating enjoyable acts of media. He is excited to create this ambitious project along with the rest of the team!
Henry Has produced projects such as Downhaven, Book of Patricide, and Ringside
Joshua Labata and Zane Kalani Kulijan, the creators of this crazy project, have worked together before, on "Pseudocide? Satisfied!" Check out their first collaboration here:
Also! Zane has directed and written his breakout award-winning film, The Sinister Tales of Scoopy Burger. View that here:
Hey! Joshua Labata has done some awesome and sick things too! Here's the trailer for Downhaven, which he has written and produced, along with teasers for Book of Patricide, which is also written and produced by Joshua.
