Our Story
Mission: Your Stage Your Music, for Education Inc. will be hosting an
annual Music for Schools Tour. We also will be filming an annual documentary on
the impact of our tour and the funds raised for each school music program
before and after, to see the impact it has made on the students, parents,
principal and their communities. Our financial goal is to raise up to $20,000 for each school performing on the tour.
We
are looking to solicit money for a total of 20 public, private, or charter
junior high and elementary schools annually. Each school that participates on
our tour, will co-host a concert. The school band will open up each concert performing for one set, then two local / well known bands or singer will perform two more sets. The genres of music that will be performed in
their auditorium are Jazz, R&B, and classic Soul. The Music for Schools
tour will take place over the course of 20 weeks, 10 weeks from June -
August and 10 weeks from February - April, each performance will be
held once a week for 2 1/2 hours.
Schools
that are chosen will be within the five boroughs of New York City, State of New
Jersey and the rest of the Tri-state area. Our hope is to expand our tour
nationally and then internationally to other schools. All concerts will be held
within each school auditorium. Each week a concert will be held in one of the
chosen schools.
The
Music for Schools Tour was created to solicit funding to save, expand, maintain
or create music programs for every school and also to teach music at every
educational level around the world.
The Impact
Music
programs nationwide are in danger. State and local legislators are attempting
to make up for funding shortfalls in this difficult economy by cutting
education budgets, which can place school music at risk. Advocacy takes place
on many fronts, and advocates for music education need to learn to speak to different
audiences, each of whom has a key contribution to make. Now's the time to get
involved and do our part to ensure that not only Americas students but schools
around the world have access to a comprehensive, sequential music education
taught by exemplary music educators!
Music
is what expresses pure thought. Music on
its own can change the very mood of a persons thoughts and day. A new song can
play and the very feel of it can give you power and the feeling you can
accomplish anything. Every form of music has its way of affecting us. Children
at an early age need music programs at school to know they have a choice to be
involved in this form of creative expression and show how music creation
influence peoples lives.
