Short Summary
My name is Dylan Michael Rowen. I am 13 years old and about to
celebrate my Bar-Mitzvah. To mark this rite of passage, I am giving
back to my community with a "Mitzvah Project" to raise money for a cause
that I believe in.
I have a deep passion for music, and the power that music has. I
truly believe that music can make a difference in peoples lives. I
recently learned that music is tool used to help aging adults who are
suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
"When
used appropriately, music can shift mood, manage stress-induced
agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive
function, and coordinate motor movements."
I believe that I can make a difference by providing music for these
individuals who otherwise would not have access to this type of therapy.(Information from Alzheimer's Foundation of America Website www.alzfdn.org)
What We Need
I am raising $290.00 in addition to the $560 already raised to purchase ipods and headphones for Alzheimer's
patients in my community. All proceeds will go to the Jewish and Family
Career Services Aviv Older Adult Services for Alzheimers patients.
The Impact
The impact of my Mitzvah Project will help allow aging Alzheimers patients who do not have resources otherwise, to utilize music as a meaningful therapy. This music will make them feel better, increase their cognitive function, and help stimulate their mind.
Music can make a meaningful difference in peoples live.
