What's The Film About?
When colourful, effeminate Elliott lures the animalistic Jack to his apartment for a late night hook up, he unearths an unexpected emotional connection.
Our Story
On the surface, gay people have never had it so good. We can get married. We’re on TV. We’re encouraged to be funnier, louder and hotter than just about everyone else.
So what have we got to be upset about?
Many gay men today live on the edge of sharp contradictions.
Progress in LGBT+ rights in the 50 years since the repeal of the Sexual Offences Act, culminating in the legalisation of gay marriage, has been remarkable and positive.
At the same time, HIV infection rates among gay men have never been so high, social media has added huge pressure to look hot, masculine and young, and chem sex addiction is on the rise.
But these contradictions are missing from films about gay men.
'My Loneliness Is Killing Me was a reaction to seeing so many films about gay and bisexual men that weren’t about gay or queer culture; it was about being part of a community and wanting to see the lives of myself and the gay and queer men I know onscreen, especially when it comes to club and hookup culture. There are so many stories to tell in this world, and so many that aren’t being told' - Michael Lee Richardson, writer
MY LONELINESS IS KILLING ME explores the complicated and sometimes harsh reality of contemporary gay life, and uses the gay male experience as a prism to examine universal themes of fear of loneliness, the need to be desired, and dissatisfaction with conformity.

Risks & Challenges
We want this film to prompt important conversations on what it is to be a gay man today.
We’ve made a film that we’re really proud of and we know it’s good (BAFTA Scotland winner, remember?) - the biggest risk now is that nobody gets to see it!
Submitting to festivals can be an expensive business, with costs of up to £40 for each submission.
We were really lucky to receive financial support and a budget to make the film, but now we need your help to get it seen.
None of the team has any money - unemployed or dancing from freelance gig to freelance gig - and we don’t have the cash to distribute the film ourselves.
It’s not all about money, though - we need festivals to have heard about us, and to be looking out for us, so that those precious pennies aren’t wasted.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you don't have spends, that's okay - you really can help us out by helping to build a buzz.
