Our menu is unlike any other in the area. Everybody who's anybody loves a good ol' fashioned grilled cheese sandwich, but we play with different cheeses and other ingredients to give it a twist-check out pictures of some of our sandwiches on our Facebook! With every sandwich we serve, we'll be dishing out our own mmm-mmm-amazing homemade tomato soup, and a handful of our fully loaded nachos.
What We Need & What You Get
We've come pretty far since starting this venture several months ago. We have the government side covered and completed, have a commissary partner secured, and endless ideas for our menu. We've hit some financial road blocks that have set us back a couple of months, keeping us from opening by our goal of early spring 2013, but with your help, we can be hitting the streets by the beginning of this summer!
Opening our business will take much more than our goal of $10,000, but all money raised will help offset the cost of:
- Buying a truck and equipment (Estimated $20,000+)
- Commissary rent ($600/month)
- Start-up costs, including permits, groceries, and payroll (Estimated $5,000+)
We want to give back to those who help us out as much as we can, from a small, public "thank you," to Nacho Mama's merch, meals, and more!
The Impact
With Nacho Mama's Grilled Cheese, we want to not only bring classic food with our unique spin to Bloomington-Normal food lovers, but help the area grow its blossoming street food culture. The midwest is far behind the street food trend that's huge in major cities all along the east and west coast, and Bloomington-Normal is the perfect place to help change that.
Those fortunate enough to have already tried our sandwiches have walked away raving about our food and tell us frequently that they dream about our sandwiches and can't wait until we're up and running. We're food-lovers ourselves, and while we can enjoy one of our melty treats any time we're craving one at home, we dream of being able to share our talents with others.
Good food can turn a bad day around, and when the people of Bloomington-Normal are feeling down, we want to be who they go to for a smile and a sandwich to make it all better. Keeping everything local is important to Bloomington-Normal, and to us; we want to use as many local ingredients as we can and serve at small businesses as much as possible.
