We consume somewhere between 1 trillion to 500 billion of plastic bags per year, and it’s an unnecessary waste. With Nanobag 2.0 and Nanopack it's finally easy to carry a bag at all times. The compact super soft fabric easily folds into your pocket, and does away with bulky reusable shopping bags.

Why are we making the Nanobag?

This project was inspired by the countless plastic bags we've received when we go shopping. Unable to find high quality reusable lightweight shopping bags suitable to carry in our pockets, we decided to create the the Nanobag. After the success of our first campaign, we’re now launching Nanobag 2.0 and the Nanopack.

The pouch is integrated into the bag this time. You'll never lose it.

With Nanobag 2.0 we’ve made it bigger, more comfortable to carry, reinforced the seams, attached the pouch to the bag and upgraded the design.

We're committed to creating quality products that will last. The bags are made with the best lightweight ultra-high-performance fabrics we could find. This time we've also upgraded the stitching of all the seams, to eliminate any potential weakness. We've also put in place a new quality control and testing process to eliminate faulty products. We guarantee that your bags will be of excellent quality.

The fabric features a water resistant coating.

The handles are now reinforced for extra comfort.

The handles now go along the length of the bag. This is to distribute the weight more evenly.

The fabric measures only 0.002 inches (0.5mm).

Based on feedback from the community we’ve also decided to make the Nanopack, a drawstring backpack from the same fabric. In order to make it comfortable to carry, we’ve made 2cm wide straps from our unique fabric, rather than strings. This way the weight is distributed over a larger area, making it comfortable to carry. It also helps keep the volume and weight to a minimum.

The Nanopack weighs only .81 oz (23 g).

The reinforced ripstop material has an extreme strength to weight ratio.

A carbon positive bag

We consider our bags environmentally conscious, as they contain less materials than other bags in their category and help reduce single use plastic bag consumption. In addition we'll offset any CO2 emitted from the production of the fabric, stitching and shipping of the project by planting  mangrove trees in Myanmar with Worldview International Foundation. Mangrove trees are one of the most effective tools against climate change, and are ten times more effective than most other tree species. Mangroves take CO2 out of the air and bind it to the ground, and prevent it from escaping into the atmosphere. As an added bonus they prevent soil erosion and help sustain coastal ecosystems.

Project Status

We fulfilled the first bags in March 2019, and we now have bags in stock, and are shipping on an ongoing basis. If you order your bags today, they'll get shipped out out the following workday.

Risks and challenges

We’ve already delivered our first Nanobag and Air Deck campaigns, so we already have a track record. The Nanobag 2.0 and Nanopack have been developed and tested over the past few months and we feel confident that we can do a good job with this. As with every project, there can always be unforeseen things along the way. There might also be minor changes to the product as we get input from the community along the way.
