Short Summary
My name is Brianna Curtis, and I want to be a lawyer. I am a junior at Booker T. Washington High School, and a dual enrollment student at Georgia State University. I was nominated for the program, the National Youth Leadership Forum on LAW and CSI, unfortunately my family can not afford for me to attend the program this summer. Therefore, I am fundraising to earn the money, so I can enhance my leadership skills and gain knowledge on what it is like to be a lawyer.
This campaign is very important to me, because it will allow me to get a head start on my dreams. Even though I can not afford to go to the leadership program; I can use my resources to get me there. I am very excited to fund-raise for this cause, because there is nothing like achieving your dreams. I have wanted to be a lawyer ever since I was in the 7th grade. It has always been a desire of mine to bring justice to society. I believe going to this program will allow me to have a first hand experience on what it is like to be a lawyer.
Contributes will help me achieve my goal of having knowledge about different types of approach in courts. Also, contributors will help me explore different types of views in courts and how to analyze these views. The Impact
The National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) is an interactive, hands-on, limited-capacity program that introduces high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from across the nation to the fields of law, forensics, and crime scene investigation.
During the program, students conduct a model Supreme Court hearing based on an actual case as they apply standard court procedures and analyze and argue the constitutionality of the issue at hand by immersing themselves in the roles of attorneys or Justices. Throughout this student-led simulation, students gain an understanding of the judicial process and develop critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills.
Forum on Law and CSI students also take part in a mock trial by first analyzing the same type of fingerprint, hair, and fiber evidence that was found at an actual crime scene, then applying legal reasoning to the importance of the evidence collected as they role-play as either a prosecutor or member of the defense team.
Throughout this six-day program, students meet and personally interact with nationally recognized legal professionals from some of the nation’s top law firms, observe the legal process in action and meet faculty from renowned law schools. Students test the fundamentals of law through simulations and directly engage in debate over some of the most important legal issues facing our country today.
At this program, students gain important insight into careers in law and forensics and may be able to obtain valuable references from experts and faculty they interact with. Students can also request a personalized Letter of Participation, which highlights their attendance at the Forum. These references prove to be especially valuable in pursuing future opportunities, when showcasing extracurricular experience and achievements, when applying to college, when writing essays, and in college interviews.
