What is Romeo and Juliet if not the tale of house-party that's gotten, well, a little out of hand? Joyful and gently surreal, Neon Nature’s retelling of the star-crossed lovers’ romance celebrates the euphoria and delirium of young love — along with drinking games, pillow fights, hickeys, and the particular stickiness on the bottom of your shoes when you’ve been dancing all night long and someone spilled something on the floor but it was all totally worth it? So, grab a plastic cup and join us for a rollicking toast to the dreams and desires at the heart of Shakespeare’s most infamous love story.
Ay me! What news?
Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor, we have a matching fund of $1,500 — so, every donation you make towards our $1,500 campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, helping us reach our $3,000 goal!
Need You My Help?
Yes, we do! Your contributions will help us compensate the dedicated theater artists working on the show, including our actors, designers, producers, director, dramaturg, and adapter. They'll also go towards our costumes and props, rehearsal space, and, of course, transforming The Brick into an immersive house party complete with snacks, drinks, solo cups, ping pong balls, and more. (You’re invited, of course!)
Risks & Challenges
With limited grants and public funds available for young, independent theater artists, your support will give us the rare opportunity to make Dreamers Often Lie a reality. Self-producing in New York City can be daunting, but we’ve assembled a team of talented, dedicated, and experienced theatermakers who will do whatever it takes to bring this bash to life!
