Project #1: Nets for Nepal
The problem: Many villages spread throughout the Himalayas either have very little sports equipment or no sports equipment at all.
Volleyball is very popular in Nepal, so we have been invited to trek for 2 months throughout the Himalayan Mountains, setting up high-quality volleyball nets in 7 remote villages.
First, we will fly into the capital, Kathmandu, where we will base ourselves as we prepare to set out to the villages in the surrounding mountains. We will travel to those villages from Kathmandu by transit as far as it will take us, then backpack all of the equipment and supplies the rest of the way. After we get to these remote areas, we will set up high-quality volleyball nets for the community, and provide numerous balls and pumps to keep the games going! Once we have set up a volleyball net in a village, we will teach a volleyball skills camp for anyone in the area who wants to learn to play or improve their game.
Now, this is no easy task to do in Nepal, so how’s it all going to happen? First, we are raising a minimum of $6,000 just for the flights. We are also seeking equipment donations from sports equipment manufacturers and retailers.
During this expedition, we will be recording a documentary, made specifically for all of you early supporters.
It all sounds like a good reason to help, right?
