A Little About Me...
I've been writing songs and performing since I was about five years old.

In high school, I got the chance to record my first album, Offering, which I released in 2005. Some of you will remember this artifact ;)

And just for fun, here's my very-professional CD-release announcement:
Since then, it's been SIXTEEN YEARS since I've formally recorded or released any music. I never stopped writing music or wanting to share it, but I couldn't quite figure out how it fit into my life after high school. If I wasn't going to pursue a career in songwriting, did it really make sense to spend so much time and energy on music? But perhaps the biggest reason I put songwriting on the back burner was that I got scared. The more time that passed and the older I got, the more risky it seemed to invest (financially, emotionally, time-wise, etc.) into music or call myself a songwriter. I couldn't tell if I was any good anymore, and I didn't want to embarrass myself by releasing music that wasn't "perfect."
What a sad and silly way to spend sixteen years!!!
I'm so thankful to be leaving that period behind. I'll spare you the details, but over the past two years, I've gone through quite a transformative journey. I've learned to honor my love of music and writing enough to pursue both wholeheartedly again. I've learned that it is absolutely necessary to take risks in order to live a life that feels worthwhile.
Still, I felt hesitant and nervous to start this project, and I might never have done it if my incredible new friend Stephen Brackett hadn't given me a big kick in the pants by offering to pay for my recording time with our other friend Dave Young of Widget Studios. Another thing I've learned over the past two years is that it's impossible to take the really important risks in life apart from the love and support of others.

^Not a photo of Stephen, Dave, or Joel. Just a photo illustrating love and support with two of my favorite musical friends, Misha and Shantelle <3
So here's is my big risk of 2021--I'm asking YOU to donate to my campaign and help bring this EP into the world!
My goal is to raise $7,300 over the next 15 days to cover the cost of production, mixing, mastering, hiring session musicians, and releasing this collection of songs. I'm very excited to be working with my dear friend, Joel Piedt of Carrousel, who will be coming to Denver next week to help me produce these songs! I've been hoping to work with him for a few years now--he is an incredible musician and producer, and it's a dream come true to finally get to collaborate with him.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, I'm so thankful to each and every one of you for joining me on this journey. Even if you can't give now, I'd love for you to follow along! I'll be posting video updates here and on my instagram from time to time, so keep checking back here to see my progress.
Alright...LET'S DO THIS!!!!!
