My Story
As a frequent traveler, I find postcards to be a relatively inexpensive souvenir. They capture the essence of the place I'm visiting, and I appreciate the creativity each one possesses. Because I find them so interesting, it's clear that it would be the perfect outlet to put my own photos to use.
I absolutely love our planet and the parks service is extremely important to me. Being in a position where I regularly help protect, preserve and learn about the planet is a wonderful experience and I love that I am able to share that through photography. Being that shooting film can really dig into my pockets, being able to share my photos with others makes it a little more worth while. Knowing that I'm not only doing this for my own interest, my motivation has increased exponentially to better myself and my photos.
Environmentally Friendly(ish)
Given that I'm a steward of the Earth, I really appreciate sustainability in every aspect of life. Nice Butte Postcards will be printed on sustainable, ECF, chlorine free paper. Keeping in spirit, the packaging is 100% recycled material. However, being that my plan is to produce photo prints at home, Nice Butte Prints is currently in the process of acquiring sustainable and affordable photo paper.
Mission
In addition to making shooting film more sustainable, this campaign is, more than anything, to get my name and my mission out there; for people to see my photos and become more interested in our public lands. My life has completely changed since realizing how important our parks are. It'd be awesome if I could get others to realize their importance, as well. Even possibly getting more people interested in sustainability efforts would be amazing. The monetary goal isn't super important to me. What is important to me is simply paying it forward.
Paying it Forward
Parks are very important to me and I strongly believe that it's important to preserve and protect them. Every little bit counts in sustainability efforts, so 10% of the funds raised from this campaign will go directly to the National Parks Foundation. Once the website is up, 5% of all purchases will also go to the National Parks Foundation, with prints and cards of certain parks going to those park specific foundations. (Ex): Profits from photos taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway will go to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
Other Ways You Can Help
Any support is always much appreciated. The reason I felt confident enough to start this business is because I've had people close to me encourage me and push me on my photographic journey. Regardless of whether you can afford to contribute monetarily, any other support is always appreciated. Simply reaching out and letting me know you appreciate what I'm doing, or a share on social media can go a long way.
